Earlier the craze was to go to the Middle East where they earned several times more than what they earned here. It was only money that attracted them there and most of them were artisans with hardly any education. Today it is a different story. Most migrate because of better living conditions. I have several friends and family holding high degrees who have settled in Australia, US and such countries where they think life is better than what they would get here. Partly this could be true as there are better payment options for housing and such I am told. Sadly they have not done their homework as India is not lagging behind for those who know how to go about getting what they want be it education a good job, a good lifestyle, the works. Do you know personally, any Indians living in your country?

I am not an Indian but it looks like the people who are in search of greener pasture in my country and yours have the same destinations, before it was middle east now, Australia, Canada, US. I don't have any intention to leave my country.

I have taught many over the years, more since I lived where I live now as they come here to finish their doctorates and such. We have quite a strong Indian community in NZ.

I have loads of Indians I know who have settled down in NZ. My nephew's wife's family are all there and so do my friends' kids mostly in Auckland. Have you any Indian friends?

Yes, there are plenty of them here. You will never have to look far should you need any Indian spices or other traditional food as there are practically an Indian grocer or shops in every corner.

it's the same trend here. at first it was the lower income groups. the wealthy sent their children out to study. but now even the middle and upper income groups are working or migrating overseas.

Yeah, we have indians here, But I rarely see them in my neighborhood. Unfortunately locals knew them most as local loan sharks of 5/6 or something. I find it extremely discriminating since my people also offer loans, imean why is it different when an indian offers a loan.

Some must be nurses. They are in demand. Most are computer consultants.
