I also thought you were a boy but that did not change my thinking while responding!

I find the majority of members, at least the ones that I know, tend to have names that infer a gender. I do remember a time many years ago when several members here used female usernames despite being male, although I never did understand why.
I suppose that my username qualifies as one of those that does not signify my gender, although it would not be difficult for people to realise that I am an old male fool after reading my posts.

@allknowing Oh of course. In my case the avatar does give my gender away even though it is not a photograph of me.

There are a few one can recognise from the avatars.

Well, whenever I interact with people on myLot who don't have a gender-based profile picture, I don't actually judge them whether they are boys or girls. Interaction is what's important regardless of the genders anyway. He he. Kudos~

Mostly it should not matter. I have been fooled by some but not often. I go look at profiles if it has any relevance I try to find out from other discussions.

Sometimes I do that if I have enought time like say about half an hour to do as I wish. Its what they write that counts for me too.

Back in the day, they were people that actually pretended to be a girl, and then posting naughty but not to the point of violating the rules. From them on, I just chose to interact and be more careful with how I answer the questions.

It's not a big deal because in English if you write to someone "you" it goes both for male and female. In Hebrew the second--person personal pronoun (singular) "you" splits for f. And m. For a male you say in Hebrew "Ata" and for a female "at".

@EllaSpringtimeWe learn about that when we are doing our abc. Even in Hindi we have that kind of a pronoun that is used for both genders.

It only shows men and women could think alike if we cannot identify who it is.

@allknowing and when you say "you" you approach the soul of the person and not his/her gender. That is one of the wonderful things in English.

Sometimes, after a long time I am shocked to find out that someone I thought was a male is a female, or the other way around!

@Bluedoll Has to be a girl. A boy would not do such silly things.

only drawback to not knowin' what one's gender is'd be callin' a 'sir' a 'ma'am' :)

I avoid that to save me from making a fool of myself. With your interest in horses I am sure you must be mistaken for a boy.

@sishy7 Sometimes even usernames can mislead you although as you say (which I now see) lady is mentioned in there
