A fool dies, and now everyone suffers!

On the local news today is a story about an 18 year old lad who decided to get drunk and go for a mid winters swim in a natural lake in West Wales.
He thought it was a good idea, but ended up drowning. That is what happens when you decided to enter freezing cold water whilst drunk!
Now the family is circulating a petition to call for the local council to fence off the lake so that no one can go near it. This lake is a natural beauty spot, and is enjoyed by many dog walkers, picnickers, walkers and cyclists. Now, the family want every sensible person to halt their pleasure because one fool was silly enough to go for a drunken swim.
It is absolutely annoying that one foolish person kills themself and the family want to stop sensible people from enjoying their life.
Society these days seems as though we are dumbing down to the lowest level! We have to make everything safe for drunks, criminals and rule breakers and the sensible and good suffer!

True because fools who drink too much have no good sense anymore and will do stupid things like driving into a lake. Then they only look at his side and not how it will impact other people.

@Marcyaz They look at one side of the story and don't want to accept the reality. If the man was not drunk am sure he would not have gone to swim given the conditions

This is what happens when we do things not out of sound mind and judgment. It's out of grief and the pain of loss that they are trying to make the petition work....they're not being sensible themselves. Its a silly idea. They think their loss would be compensated or their suffering would end with fencing off the lake, but that won't happen even if the natural beauty spot was closed to visitors. A sense of loss will always be with them.
