Virtual Reality, is it here to stay?

Hello again, have you heard of the new virtual reality technology that is coming out? Is it anything to get excited about?
One of the things I have been following online is the development of new virtual reality equipment. Back in the late 80's and early 90's they had by then already coined the term "virtual reality" but all attempts of creating something that people actually wanted to use failed.
It is now 2015 going on 2016 and virtual reality has been reborn. It is no longer a flat screen in front of your face but an advanced piece of technology that is worn and can transport you to other worlds. Within a few years the next generation of headsets will launch for gaming platforms.
Imagine being able to actually sit in a room and talk to your kids that live many miles away just by buying one of these headsets. Or "walking on mars" NASA has actually created a exact replica of mars that you see through these headsets.
So what do you think? Excited or pass? Here to stay or just another fad? I have attached a YouTube video of if you would like to see the current models in action.

Once I had a nasty cut on the chin as I was shaving on a fine morning. Very naturally I took my left hand down to the wash basin and was pressing "Ctrl-Z" expecting that action to "Undo" the cut bruise. Then I realized how stupid I was and felt ashamed. Is this "Virtual Reality" perhaps?

@chance216 you are right. Not only the brain, even the way computer works at times looks funny to me. As an experiment, once I was feeding in some data for the computer to understand as to what is a "parrot".
- Parrot is a green colored bird and has two eyes, two legs and two wings
- Parrot is able to fly with the help of its 2 wings @ 24 miles per hour
- On a fine morning I take a knife and cut 1 wing of the parrot
- Now, how many miles per hour the parrot can fly?
What is the answer you expect from the computer? Human brain says "The parrot cannot fly at all since a wing has been cut".
Whereas the computer calmly answered "12 miles per hour".

lol, I think you would have to use a controller of some kind but I am sure you would do fine ;) I am looking forward to seeing where this technology will go.

@chance216 Whenever using a controller I tend to move my entire body with it lol. Not sure why but ya that would be cool if they did come up with that. Eventually I would learn how to properly (on the floor..laying down haha)

Virtual report: Linked to youtube video and going to watch it but 43 seconds in breaking up into laughter. "I had one as a kid with a lever on the side that showed different pictures?
"Does this have anything to do with mind control?" I'll try to comment again after watching the complete video. Thanks for sharing. Too much. lol
