Yep, education, that's something hot to discuss about. I'm really worried how the word education being misunderstood, Damn ! I'm not being educated ! am just being made a programmed machine that stores the data into its memory and then use it through the life to earn and eat.

I differ completely. Education is never the tool that programs you. It is your preferences that program you and what you prefer is what you become. Education is only the tool to help you decide what you prefer, nothing beyond.

@thiyagu_rtr A did the mistake of joining a wrong course. At the end, A has to realize that it is his life and his selections. He should have stood firm on his interests which he did not. So he failed. Not a big issue. The world of A does not end there. He can always chase his passion - agreed, time was wasted, but the learnings were learned and they will last his life. They put me into Arts (with Politics and Economics - citing Economics would help in MBA). I did study - the best way I could. I got very poor marks in Eco. Still, they manage to get me into MBA. I never joined because by the time I graduated, I had done a part time course that got me a job and from that job, I earned to pay what I wanted to learn.

@thesids you just have to review the scenario through out country, do you think every one have that opputunity to do things like you do (part time). My only question why arent we allowed to pursue what we like, if choosing a MY career in MY own way is of these difficulties, then how i can be a successful and a satisfied person....???

So, lets take a scenario, A is good in chemistry but weak in maths, But A is forced to study engineering and you know whats the scenario of engineering in our country, how can some one excel in engineering with liking maths. So he failed to excel as an engineer and then everyone labels him a looser.

I feel the same with education here. Pupils are being taught how to pass exams

@thiyagu_rtr Education does not force you to do anything or even believe in what they want you to. It is others - maybe your friends, family, guardians, teachers or even your beliefs/preferences who gets you into "forced to do what they know".

@thesids thats what i'm trying to convey, im lucky that i ended up somewhere i have some interest. But i know people who excel in other things are forced to do what i do.. they are given with only option and are asked to choose the one...

The more higher you go in education the more choices you get to explore, that makes it easy to choose a career in something you prefer. If you are studying something entirely different than your liking, it is not the fault of education, but of the people who pushed you towards it. I believe education gives lots of scope in this country, but not on basic levels. It gives choices on higher levels of education. In foreign countries, they are given on basic levels that's why they seem good to us.

@thiyagu_rtr yes in that case the education has gone to waste. Most of the people tend to do that because they are selfish, which conflicts with the values taught to us since we are children. People need to get secure in life is all. That's when they are termed "successful". But being educated is a whole different thing. I didn't say that our basic education is bad. I said it doesn't give us a lot of scope to explore in other fields. Like a person can like both History and Maths, but they can hardly study that in India at +2 level, can they? They have to choose one, and in their dilemma sometimes choose neither. But these strict lines between subjects blur the higher you go up in educational levels. In Ph.D. level, you need every knowledge in almost every field most of the time to complete your thesis. That's what I wanted to say previously.

Ria ! I'm lucky that i have chosen what i like, fortunately or unfortunately, a few of your views doesn't match mine. Because i think in our country the basics are good infact better than many countries. But the thing is we are molded in such a way that we are educated to get job then buy a car, a SWEET home, marry a girl with equal salary, work and get paid, and cry that i'm a successful person in life. To me education is a whole different perception. Lets take scenario, A well educated person is eating pizza costing 500Rs and when he came out there was a person dying out of hunger and was surrounded with flies. The so called well educated person never gave a damn about the other not even bothering that there is person dying on his way.... so can you say that he is a well educated person !!!! Well whats the meaning of being educated then ?????????
