While shopping thru a store yesterday I saw some appliques or as some call them motiff's for Christmas. The store was selling them. However, I make similar but by hand! For many crafters it upsets people to see things they make and have worked hard to learn how to make is shipped in and made by machine.
It makes many crafters wonder how they can compete with machine made items that are made in a fraction of the time and cost less? I think many of us get discouraged to see something we took pride in learning how to make being short changed in a way by retailers. What do you think?

It depends on the usage and the price.
Many people do not keep the Christmas gifts that are bought at stores.
They are likely to keep for a few months before throwing them out.
if you make the items, you can personalize them by adding the names of the recipients.
In this way, the items will be kept for a long time, and deeply appreciated by the users.

I love seeing handmade things, it is refreshing to see new and different things besides the industrial products that we see everyday and their form that repeats itself. I also appreciate people who create handcrafts because they are mostly peaceful humanbeings who deals with their own business and not getting into others way. If everyone will be busy often in handcrafts life would be better.

I beleive that hand made items will always mean more and be worth more than factory items. At least for the current generations. There is a unique story behind every hand crafted item from a chair to a doll. Each one has a story.

I know what you mean. As a crafter who sells online it is a constant battle to compete with cheap imports. However, there are still customers who like quality handmade items even though they are becoming scarcer each day
