My College Girlfriend Was Much Taller Than Me!

When I was a 4th year college student, I had a girlfriend who was much taller than me. She's 5'8”; I am just 5'3”We were classmates. She was a member of varsity volleyball team; while I was not a member of any sports. I was a member of our college debate team. And I knew she got attracted to me for being cute and good in class. When I was in college, I was attracted to tall, athletic girls. What an odd couple we were! You know when the girlfriend is much taller than the boyfriend, everything is hilariously reversed. When we kissed, she had to bend while I stretched up my body and neck. One time she even lifted me up when kissing. I was like a toddler being lifted by big momma! One afternoon when we were on our way home, a group of guys yelled: "Honey, keep an eye on your baby boy, he might get lost!" She giggled while I pouted a bit. "Nah, just ignore them!", she said. Eventually, the heat of our love got cold. She found her size and I found mine. She is now divorced, while I am not. But I could never forget the fun we had. And sometimes I wonder what would be our life if she became my wife?!

Never think to the past and to the "what if", you are happy with your wife and only this counts. My husband is 5'4" like you, I am 5'2".

@antonbunot Both my husband and I are not Swiss, we were born in Italy. Swiss Italians are not tall, Swiss German are taller, but Federer is half Swiss and half South African, his mother is from South Africa, Dutch origins.

@LadyDuck, I thought Swiss guys, like my favorite tennis player - Roger Federer, are 6-footers!

Quite an interesting post. The picture you uploaded is awesome. I think, had she been your wife, the fun and enjoyment would have continued through out your life, the way you were enjoying while in college. Anyway, there is a saying -Man purposes and God disposes and it came out true in your case. God had other plans for you and you got married to a different woman and she with another guy. It is good to hear that you are living a happy married life and I believe that there is nothing wrong in remembering your past sweet moments with your tall girl friend.

My boyfriend is taller then me so it's the opposite for us. I'm always going to be the shortest as I'm only 4'11''. Sometimes I don't mind though but other times it can be a pain.

@Blondie2222 Girls are usually less taller than their boy friends, but in the case of dear @antonbunot it was unusual case, therefore, their combination becomes all the more interesting.

@dpk262006 LOL . . My only consolation, @dpk262006, I was short but muscular . . but if I were reed-thin, I would have looked more like a baby than a toddler when we were hugging each other!

Sounds like she didn't have a problem with the size difference, you did. I suspect that things wouldn't have lasted too long.

Well, What happened was she found a job in the big city while I worked in our town. They say that "absence makes love go fonder". . maybe . . but absence gives us time and opportunity to meet someone with sweeter smile!

lol . . But here in Canada, size does not matter at all. There are a lot of couples - - the man is shorter than his wife. Our third son is just 5'7 . . but his wife, an Italian-Canadian, is 5'11!

The "what ifs" are always thought of. If you two had gotten married, you may have ended up divorced. All things work out for the best.

I know the fun you had, my boyfriend is an inch shorter than me, so basically it is not much of a difference.....but since you are happy now with your wife, why dig up the past?

tall differences, age differences is no matter. you mention that your lover is divorced. Swing back in past memories and love is dangerous.

We met recently . . we both aged, but she seemed to have aged physically more than me. Most likely because she is tall and I am short. Anyway, the flame is gone. We are now just good friends.

I don't think it matters in the WEST; but in the EAST (especially, the Philippines), people usually get nosy and make fun of the size difference.

Kudos~ Still a better love story than twilight. LOL. Anyway, love knows no bounds my friend. I watched a cartoon when I was young about such a case that started with them as friends that argue a lot, until eventually they fall in love with each other. Love is a feeling that is developed regardless of personal appearance and the like. And if it does not work out in the end, that must only mean there's someone out there that is better for you. Thanks for sharing your story! It was fun to read, for me, I don't know why but I am kind of attracted to women older than me by at most 5 years... Weird... maybe it's because they have more experience and more fun to talk with deeply. Ha ha, Kudos~!

I try not to focus on the past and what could of been, only what is in the here and now - what is happening right now is a gift, that is why it is called the present.

Well, sometimes I could not help myself imagining or reminiscing the past - - especially my past loves. They make me smile and sigh . . I love listening to Julio Iglesias' love song - "To all the girls I've loved -- - "
