Yes another turkey story in the Thanksgiving Spirit. For those of you who don't know, Ethel Kennedy is the widow of Robert F. Kennedy, the brother of President John Kennedy. She continues to live in Hyannisport. A few years ago a giant wild turkey started to attack the local mailman. He would lurk in the woods and then attack the truck. The mailman was unable to get out of the truck. Ethel Kennedy told the local paper that the turkey might have been hers. Really? Here's the video that the newspaper, the Cape Cod Times posted on YouTube.
For some reason a wild turkey has been attacking a mail truck in a Centerville neighborhood. Check out this fowl footage of the mad bird in action. Ethel Ken...

I have watched the video, I cannot believe it, those big birds are more aggressive than I thought.

@Auntylou I knew about geese, the ancient Romans used geese instead of dogs.

I think that that turkey is one of the most aggressive. Although I think any of them are capable of this.

Geese too; sometimes people find them better than guard dogs as they make so much noise when an intruder comes!

I had a neighbor who had big birds as pets. Once when over visiting, Virginia (a turnkey) put her head in my lap wanting me to pet her. I sent her away. I like eating turkey, but could not if I ever made friends with one.

As we spend more time watching our turkeys, we are thinking about having salad for Thanksgiving. I hope Mom is joking!

@NeldaHoxie I have made it a policy to never befriend food.

We used to get turkeys attacking all the cars on the back road I took to work every day. The school bus was ahead of us, and when the cars stopped behind it, the turkeys would come peck at the hubcaps (they can see themselves in them) and you couldn't move forward without running over the stupid birds.

How did the kids get off of the bus? I really didn't realize until recently how common and how big these birds are.

I tried to find a follow up to see how long this turkey survived. It was several years ago, so I don't know his fate.

That is some turkey. Following and attacking the truck like that.. I pity the poor mail man.

I have heard that several mailmen refused to get out of the truck.

Somehow I thought that Mrs. Kennedy was not of this world anymore.

Nope, she's doing well. Perhaps you're thinking of Jackie Kennedy?

I thought it showed how big a turkey could get and how vicious they could be. The Ethel Kennedy connection is a bonus.

My friend in Massachussetts (too many letters in there I'm sure) has loads of wild turkeys in her garden. They're feisty little monsters.

Feisty monsters is a very good description. I just saw a few in my yard this morning.
