Mum Has Been Sent Some Poppy Seeds By The Funeral Directors

To be honest, I was dreading speaking to Mum on the telephone a little earlier as it's the first time she's been on her own since my Dad died on 16th October. I think she was OK as she's had a busy day, having her eyes tested, ordering new specs, that type of thing. She said the worst time of day is in the morning when she gets up as that was the time she used to see to Dad, giving him his meds and - generally - making sure he was fed and watered. Anyway, this morning she had a pleasant surprise from Hollowells, the Funeral Directors. They sent her a packet of Poppy Seeds, along with a lovely poem she just read out to me. The idea is that, once the poppies start to grow, they will be a constant reminder of Dad still being around. It will be interesting to see what the cats make of them once they start to grow. What a lovely gesture!

That is indeed a really lovely gesture. Unless of course the poppy plants die - that would be too painful.
