Today is Deepavali here in India. Every nook and corner will be lit and display of fireworks seen all over. It is the sound of crackers that I detest. No amount of advice will reduce this menace both adults and children over indulging in it.
I used to play this video clip when Charlie the monkey was seen on our terrace. I just wanted him to get back to the trees which he used to. He was scared of the cracker sound. .

One can use both but deepavali could be a better word as deepa means light.

Here in Kerala we use'' Deepavali'' because in Malayalam it means row of lights.(decoration).

I love fireworks we only do those for the 4th of july. Hope everyone is safe with them.

@salonga It is too loud in cities and I just hate the noise. I do not mind fire works per se.

It is traumatic for animals specially dogs but there is nothing one can do to eliminate this nuisance.

I hate the noise too and yet there are scores who like that noise. Disgusting
