After Trump and Carson ... Who is Your Third Favorite Republican Candidate?

I have watched several of the Republican debates. I had to miss one, but the others have been interesting. First, I want to say that I am not a member of either political party. I have voted for both Democrats and Republicans over the years. In fact, I like to see candidates from both parties that I think are bright, qualified and have some good ideas. That way, no matter which one wins, it will at least be someone I think is qualified to hold that position. There seems to be little question right now who will be the Democratic candidate. The only question is who will be the Republican candidate. Personally, Trump and Carson are not my favorites of the Republicans, so I am hoping that one of the second tier Republican candidates somehow wins their primaries ... even though I realize that doesn't seem likely right now. I happen to like Gov. John Kasich. Without any angry, rude comments, I would be curious to hear who you think is your favorite?

I do not know enough to be able to reply, but I know for sure that I would not like to see Donald Trump as the President of the United States.

@DeborahDiane Not really the ugly American, but most of us consider him as someone who has very bad manners and cannot keep his tongue. Let's say he first talks then thinks.

My personal opinion is that Trump is the epitome of what foreigners consider "the Ugly American." He is too blustery and reactionary. I would not like to see him become president, either.

@LadyDuck Which is the definition of the Ugly American, (that and wearing plaid Bermuda shorts).

If I had to choose one of the Republican candidates, I, too, would probably go for John Kasich. He seems more thoughtful and less dogmatic and doctrinaire than the others; less hooked into positions designed to appeal to the most conservative parts of the party.

I agree. Those are exactly the reasons why I prefer him, too ... of the Republican choices.

I would never want Trump in office. He has little if no experience in foreign policy and we need some one with some experience. I like Hillary on the other side because she does have the experience in many areas.

I agree that Hillary has much more experience. In fact, during tonight's Republican debate, one of the moderators actually said that Hillary has more experience than all the Republicans together. It surprised me that the moderator mentioned that.

@DeborahDiane yes I'm sure there are worthy republicans and bad democrats too - it is as much about individual candidates as overall party rule

@arthurchappell - Yes, I try to look at the individual candidates and their goals for America, more than their party affiliation. However, the leading Republicans do not appeal to me.

I tend to lean towards the Democratic candidate but, in case my preference does not win, I would like to see a Republican candidate whom I can at least respect and be able to agree with some of his/her viewpoints.

I respect Dr. Carson, but I think Marco Rubio/Carly Fiorino would be an excellent ticket.

Thank you for giving me your opinion of the candidate you prefer. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I appreciate hearing yours.

I think it is too soon for him. He is still too young. I don't agree with him politically, but even if I did, I would pass at this moment in his career. As for her, zero experience.

I too like Kasich, but he has several crazy beliefs, so I don't like him for the job. Not one of these candidates is a safe choice for women, according to what they have said in the past.

I agree that they are all bad choices for women, but Kasich is more open about providing heathcare for the citizens of his state and he doesn't have this crazy idea about deported millions of people and creating a new agency to do it ... like Trump wants!

@ElizabethWallace - I can't believe that this slate of people are the best the Republicans could find!

@DeborahDiane Every time Trump says something wacko, it reinforces my belief that it is all strategy to help his Democrat friends. When the other guys say something nuts, I find it scary, since I think they would actually do the things he is only kidding about.

Yes, it will be helpful if the crowd of Republicans shrinks a little.

I do not really know Deborah-Diane I am not really into all the run ups to your elections although we have it rammed down our throats here! I hope they do not do the same to you with our elections although I dare say they do not!

Oh, things are getting rammed down our throats, too. After all, it is still a year until the election and this has already been going on for months! It will be hard to remember what some of them had to say by the time the election comes around.

I haven't followed the Republicans closely enough to say at this point. I hope it is not Trump. I'd like to have the option of voting Republican (something I've done only once).

I hope it is not Trump either. Whichever party I support, I always like to feel that at least the person on the other side would not be too bad, if they should win.

I haven't seen any of the debates, so I really don't have any favorites at this point.

I have watched all the debates except one, and I watched the highlights of that one. As a result, I have formed some opinions. However, I am open to hearing the opinions of others at this point.
