. Curse according to the dictionary is - "a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something." Have you, out of anger put a curse on anyone? If so, did it make you feel good or triumphant? I have been cursed a few times by a couple of people because I told the truth. But I don't believe in curses so they did not work on me. I don't care if they think God is on their side because they are "God-fearing" and I am not, I still don't believe in curse.. Do you believe in curse? Have you ever been cursed? How did you feel? And what did it do to you? Bess

I believe people can curse meaning they can use lanquage in a shocking way. I also believe in God and understand that curse is not the way we describe "supernatural power" any more than I believe God inflicts harm or punishment on someone or something. Supernatural power are not words that describe what is going on with God either.

@epiffanie your last comment confused me. Not sure where to look above? I think you are saying you are an atheist and also think the bible says there are curses on mankind? I don't believe this. I think God can make judgements. Like a judge in court that deals with crime sometimes actions happen based on a judgement. Thanks for receiving my comment Bess.

@Bluedoll sorry about the confusion . I was talking about the definition of the word curse that I mentioned on my discussion. I don't believe in the Gods written in man's so called holy books. But it does not mean I am an an atheist because I believe the higher power. I just don't believe in organised religions. They are the source of division of mankind.. Thanks for gracing my mylot corner ..

I have seen curses work on people who fear them.

@epiffanie The Bible says that an undeserved curse goes back to the one who utters it,

I don't believe in curse and I don't think God would ever side with anyone who curses someone.

I do not believe in curses. As bad as anything person curse me, it will not affect to my life. Which determines how my life in the future is my effort and destiny of the gods. I had been threatened by my brother and he condemned me that I would not survive. But I do not believe it, and until now I am fine. Curse only applies to people who do not believe in a god.

@wiLLmaH I am thinking that maybe it wasn't really a curse but a prediction because of the way your uncle observed the lifestyle of his brother..

Curse, curse, curse. I guess curse only happens in the dark side and that is very common in the ancient times. Like the frog prince, :)

There's the kind of curse parents lay on their kids - I hope you have kids just like you. Those kinds of curses, yes, I do believe in them. But curses that come from people I don't know have no effect on me.

As a writer I believe in the power of words. In that sense, placing a verbal curse on someone may work, not because of the supernatural power (energy transmitted and received) but because the individual who was cursed may fear the power and believe it. His own belief in the curse will bring it about. I do believe there are supernatural forces at work in the universe and that they can be called upon. It is said that God of the bible has cursed certain individuals as even the angels and demons have done. I believe that is possible. Real magic does exist and witchcraft, both white and black is real. However, that is not the higher power that I give credit for creation for that is not a loving god. I do not believe a loving god or goddess would curse another life form.

I agree with you @dorianna .. Words are powerful. And that is why we need to be responsible for the words we say.. But even more responsible for how we take in those words whether they are negative or positive , it's up to us how we let words influence our decision making in life..
