Orange Peel

Am I alone in eating the whole of an orange or tangerine including the peel? I see so many people peel an orange and throw the peel away. I peel off the peel and eat that too. It tastes delicious. I wouldn't eat banana peel, but orange and apple peel is fine by me.

Apples, pears, plums, cherries, nectarines and possibly peaches and apricots have peel which it is usually OK to eat provided they are washed. Some people don't like the furry texture of peaches and so prefer to peel them.
The white part of the peel of citrus fruits is bitter so most people prefer not to eat it (though it is actually liked by many when cooked in marmalade). There are a few citrus fruits, such as kumquats, which have a thin and sweet skin and are often eaten whole but, in general, it's more usual to eat only the juicy inner segments and to discard the peel.

So you eat the peels of all the fruits mentioned?

@silvermist Usually, yes. The only ones I may peel are pears and peaches because the skins of those tend to be irritating to the stomach. A good deal of the goodness of many fruits is contained in the skin or peel.

We have not tried eating orange peal. We generally keep the peel under the sun and let it dry and then it is used as facial scrub.
I understand that if orange peal is eaten it could be healthy in terms of getting vitamin C etc. I once read that lemons be used in vegetables without pealing or if possible lemons should be eaten with peals. Nonetheless, we make pickle of lemon with peal and once it gets ready, we take it along with our food.
We eat apple peal. It is said that it contains lots of minerals, however, it takes time for apple peal to digest.
We have not every thought of eating banana peal. However, we rub it on our shoes/sandals/sleepers etc. to make them shine.

I only eat candied orange peels. They are sweet and bitter at the same time. A very different taste.

We were brought up eating fruits without their peel. It is difficult now to start eating them although I have added them while making orange marmalade.

I take the peel off first and eat it as it is easier to eat the orange itself in segments rather than just biting in through the rind which would just get messy

I use orange peel in recipes and sometimes homemade face masks, but have never tried to eat them. They do taste good?
Apple peel though, I do enjoy eating.

Not for me - I find the taste too strong. A few shavings in or on a cake is quite nice though. My wife eats apple cores, and I don't understand how she can do that.
