How much do you rely on online shopping?

I have a tendency, like most people I would imagine, to do as much shopping online as I can because it's convenient. My daughter is now taking up the habit, as well. She decided to order a rather expensive pair of headphones from Amazon.ca and paid the $15 charge for one-day shipping because she really wanted to get them quickly. Well, what a mess. They didn't arrive on time. They should have been here on Tuesday, at the latest, and they just arrived at 3:15PM Thursday. Needless to say, she will be contacting Amazon and asking for a refund of her $15. On top of the delay, the driver never even rang the doorbell (I happened to be home so I know that for sure) and he left the cardboard box sitting outside our unsheltered door in the rain. The only reason I knew to go and look for it was because my dogs were barking like crazy. I usually rely on Amazon for a LOT of my Christmas shopping and I've always trusted them to be prompt with delivery. I really hope today's experience isn't a sign of things to come through the holiday season! Amazon, as the fulfiller, and the post office delivery both failed in this transaction - and it's not even peak season yet. How's your online shopping experience been recently? Any warnings for holiday shoppers?

I love shopping online but I would never pay extra for that kind of shipping :) I always look for free shipping or coupon codes or else it is not worth it. Lately I have had a rough time shopping online, harder to find free shipping or good coupons. Plus shipping taking longer than expected lately. It has made me want to go back to a real physical store! So now I often shop online and use the "find in store" option to make my list, then go to the physical store to buy. But if something is ONLY online or is just easier online, then I will suck it up and pay shipping like I did the other day at Personal Creations.

I do very little online shopping. I still prefer to go to the stores to see items in person.

I often go shopping online. As the price is nicer and there are more choices. Some products are just not available in my side and therefore I need to count on the online shopping. Here usually the delivery is fast and inexpensive. If you can buy a certain amount, the delivery can even be free. This is why today I also buy groceries online.

I don't do a whole lot of online shopping. Actually I never used to do online shopping at all, but this year I've done a bit. Thus far I've had no problems with delivery, knock on wood! I hope she's able to get a refund on her shipping charges!

I am a great one for online shopping and Amazon is where I go for it - no complains. Recently I have ordered for something that Amazon could not supply but this order is taking ages to arrive. Never more will I go there again.

I do it all the time, I used to love shopping now I loathe it .. now even my groceries are ordered online...occasionally things go wrong but mostly it's a happy relief, from crowded supermarkets and over glitzy stores

I would definitely expect them to refund the postage if the item didn't arrive.

I would say that 90% of my non grocery shopping is done online. Of which a good 75% I do via Amazon, however I wait for price drops, and always make sure I qualify for free delivery. I also check reviews vigorously as I don't want the hassle of returning goods.
