So I sit here with the 10th and final episode in season 5 of Game of Thrones, cued up to watch. It's been a roller coaster ride. With the exception of Walking Dead, there has never been a tv show that has captured my attention like this one. Nor has there ever been a show with more propensity for killing off main characters with absolutely impunity. I was warned of this, and yet, I got attached to character after character, only to watch them die horribly glorious deaths. As I contemplate, I understand fully that after watching this, there is nothing else until late April. this is it. The last of this gem until the new season begins. Once I watch it, I will be left in full detox. No more fixes, dry out, wait and watch the calender. Followed by only an hour long tidbit on a weekly basis. No more hours of epic intrigue, battle, story and character development. Such a sad moment. I should let that last episode sit in my archives, to be watched the night of the new season premier. But I won't. I am not that strong. I am not like the characters in the story. Scheming, patient, calculating, focused on long term goals. No, I am but a humble viewer. A devoted, new fan of the show. *presses play............

I haven't, though everyone keeps telling me I should. The problem is now that I already know what's happened, so no surprises in the books. I'm just quirky like that. Unless there are books out there that start before the tv show's time period. I would love to read what happened before the tv show's time frame though. Are there books that cover the reign of the "Mad King" and that period?
