Do you wish on shooting stars?

My little neighbor told me that she has already wished for her Christmas gift on a shooting star. Apparently Santa has always been getting it wrong every Christmas and this time she believes wishing on the shooting start would correct the issue. I hope she gets the gift she so desires. Do you ever wish on a shooting star?

Nope, I can't say that I have. Although I don't see anything wrong with people who do.

@sofssu Nope, that I don't. I guess I rely more on 'faith' and 'hope' then wishing on a shooting star. Call me crazy.

@TexanTornado Faith and hope are more stable than shooting stars. I love to watch them though.

Not in many years, sofs... If I saw one right now, I could wish that whatever seems to be troubling you would go away. If I am not being too intrusive, why have you seemed so sad lately? I just want to hug you until you aren't sad anymore.

@DaddyEvil I haven't been sad.. But I have been missing my mom and friends and three of my friends have been ill.. But then this too shall pass.. I write it out and never let it linger on.. Thank you so much for your concern. I appreciate that.

@sofssu You are welcome, hon. Then I will change my wish just a little bit... I wish everything that was bothering other people was better so you could be more at peace, Dearheart!

@enlightenedpsych2 I have a healthy ego, hon, but even I know I can't control the heavens above... What I can and will do for you is keep your mother in my thoughts and send you a LOT of and support. (I know it isn't much, but it is the best I can do.) I do hope it helps, even a little, Erica!

I don't think I've ever seen a lot of shooting stars in my lifetime. As a kid I think I wished on some. I rarely get to look up at the sky nowadays but when I do I see the beauty of the stars or a lovely full moon. Mmmm. Ah, now I think I should find another room with a nice big window where the view to the sky is unobstructed as the previous room I rented some years ago. That'd be nice.

@owstalaga Aww that is bad.. Hope you get to see the sky more often.. even if you don't wish on the shooting stars at least watching them zooming across the sky. I do hope you find the right room.

lol I don't do such thing. I am not a believer of those kind of superstition or any superstition for that matter. If I ever I desire for something, I always kneel and ask God. He is the only source of blessings in my life.

Shooting stars. I did wish once when I was a kid and there were large landscapes that were uninhabited and mother nature was found in abundance. Today, unfortunately, there are not that many places that can get me a good view of the stars up above. But in case I ever saw one, I would make a wish.

@sofssu I am confused on what I will ask. It should be health - I am ill and at home since 2008. But then, I think I have got used to being at home now, and am quite okay with what I am into - the ill health, the less of work and low earnings. So I may opt for my wife's good health and many years of togetherness. I know this may change when we have kid(s), but for now, it would be for my wife and our togetherness.

@thesids I am delighted that so many people here would actually wish on a shooting start if they see one. What would you wish for if I may ask?

The last time that I wished on a shooting star was 25 years ago, and it did not come true at all, and since then I have never done that again. I hope that she made Santa's good list this year!

@sofssu Yes, I do like to star gaze. In Vegas, most of the time the skies were clear and you could see the stars if you lived far enough away from all the lights.

Well, it is great that young people still wish for something when stars are falling in the sky. It gets their hopes up and teaches them about faith, because sooner or later, they may get their wish or not. It teaches them patience as well. But when they get older, they'll know that wishing on a shooting star is just for kids and will now learn how to work on getting their wishes instead of just hoping their wishes would come. I like looking at stars, and the fact that I am able to witness shooting stars from time to time is a great reward already. Kudos~! P.S. Secretly, I still actually wish for something when I see a shooting star. He he

@GopherDanny So you do wish.. when you see one. I have never believed in this because my dad used to tel me .. that we only need to believe in God and trust our desires into his hands while working for them. I love watching the stars too.

@sofssu Well, it's not like you'll die if you wish for something. But the important thing is, like you said, is that while you are wishing, you must be taking action. Wishful thinking and beliefs are two different things. The latter being the greater one since it can lead you to action. The stars are beautiful, aren't they? I love them stars. They remind me of God's beautiful creations. Kudos~!

I would not say I actually wish on shooting stars, however, when I see one I embrace it as magical and feel somehow empowered by it. It is as if I was suddenly energized with the energy and skill to go out and get whatever I want. I always think of it as a gift and mini-miracle.

I may sound like your little neighbor, but I do. It started when I was in the elementary. Whenever a shooting star pops up in the sky, I urgently say, "I wish ... , my dear shooting star please grant my wish..." Call it coincidence, but my wishes always came true!
