Spooky Stories about My Area on Television Tonight

United States
November 12, 2015 11:15pm CST
We live near the Bridgewater Triangle in Massachusetts. It's known for Bigfoot sightings, UFOs, mysterious lights, Satanic cults and Native American curses - to name just a few things. The Destination America station just did a special on it tonight. It was strange to see local people on the TV.BTW I have never seen anything weird in the area at all.

I'm a skeptic "intellectually," but I still love that stuff. I've read about UFO's, the Bermuda Triangle, and such like, and always get chills, even if my left brain tells me it's all silly. Um, what's that eerie light outside your window?

Since I know the stories and the pundits, it was very interesting to see what "experts" were included and excluded. The same with the stories. It makes me more skeptical of the other paranormal shows.

@NeldaHoxie I think of most of them (the shows) as sensational BS. But of curse I want to believe there's cool, creepy stuff happening out there. Can you say more about the people who were included and excluded? And why are there lizard eyes peering through your bedroom window right now? Did you lose a pet iguana? Or...

@TheHorse They were the old timers. The people who created the phrase Bridgewater Triangle in the 1990s and the police detectives who investigated some of the sensational cases that occurred in the towns. The newer investigators and authors were ignored. (I think an iguana is a tropical animal and would be very unhappy with our current New England temps.)

Some things I can believe, while others I'm not too sure. How does it feel to see your area on the news?

@NeldaHoxie well, if it can bring some revenue, then hopefully, it does continue and help your area.

It was very interesting. Paranormal tourism is huge, so maybe it will bring in some revenue.

I have always loved it here, because it's so beautiful and historic. Now I guess it's ghostly and spooky too!

It's weird how some legends spread and people believe that some areas are cursed.

Yeah, Cape Cod is only a few miles away and we have very friendly ghosts and very few of those. It's rare to hear about a scary haunt down here. But just a few miles away, it's all about the demons and scary spirits.

When in college in southern Vermont we often saw UFO's , strange colors in the sky and sounds. We used to drive to a place I can't remember, it might have been in Mass. to view the scenes. it was spooky. We wondered if it was real or put on by creative humans.

Wow, I have never seen a UFO and I've spent most of my life in Massachusetts and New England. If you remember, please let me know. Did you go to Bennington?

For an area known for its weirdness it's surprising you haven't seen any.

There might not be anything weird. All it takes is some rumors being started and the rumors begin.

That must have been very interesting.

It was. They gave a really good overview of when people started to call it the Bridgewater Triangle. Now they are saying that it goes beyond those borders. I think it's the Native American folklore blending with early Colonial history. We also have had a lot of defense contractors and military bases in Massachusetts, so experiemental airplanes could account for some of the UFOs.

Would this be Bridgewater, Massachusetts? A lot of my ancestors came from Bridgewater.

Yes it is Bridgewater, MA. There are several books written about the strange going on there. You can buy them on Amazon.

@NeldaHoxie I would have enjoyed that show! I come from the Winslows, originally from Plymouth, many of their descendants settled in Bridgewater and are buried there. Others are from Marshfield. I am not from Governor Edward Winslow, but from his brother Kenelm, who did not come over on the Mayflower, but came over later on the 2nd Mayflower in 1629. He was forced to leave Plymouth because of not taking care of the highways, or something like that!
