I have to train my husband - no more people food....

Ruby our lab has been vomiting the last few evenings. Other than that she is fine. Today we went to the vet and the good news is the Vet doesn't think it's serious - the bad news is we have to stop giving her people food or people snacks.
She asked a million questions regarding what we feed her or what she could get a hold of outside. The only item is people food.
We have two kinds of pills to give her twice a day - no people food - and see how it goes for a few days. If it doesn't stop then we will need to have blood work done. But Ruby is only 4 and the Vet is almost positive she has nothing seriously wrong with her.
Now the biggest problem is training my husband to stop giving her the 'bad' stuff!

Pups do so love that people food. I give Sandy people food once in a while and she loves it. I tend to buy her meat at one of the local grocers here and feed her that. She is not too keen on dog food.

Our vet told us that years ago.Joey has a sensitive stomach and vomits easily. If we keep him on the same food for sensitive stomachs and no people food he is okay.He has had to do the pills a few times over the years before we started feeding him what we do now and strict on the no people food.

Patti two pills yest. no people food at all (it was killing u!) and no vomiting. We'll give the pills a few days then stop them but no more people food again. Joey is small and Ruby is big, but she is super sensitive to so many things - mostly loud noises!

We are bad at that, but. We are careful to give things that are ok for dogs, much of people food are ingredients in their foods anyways

We are always careful what we give her - but as of today no more people food. Two pills and so far no vomiting and no people food and it's killing my husband!

@AbbyGreenhill well, dogs have odd tummys, maybe one thing bothered her, or maybe something irritated her and it just needs to heal

I didn't realize that giving dogs people food was bad for them

It's always been said not to but I guess many of us do anyway. We will not be doing it again.

I can see this being very difficult, probably for both of you. Dogs ask so nicely for titbits don't they? You'll have to have a treat or two ready for her instead.
