Isn't god something that we just need to "create"?

People get taught since they are children about these "gods" and if you say something to a kid over and over again until he grows up, he will believe that thing as an absolute truth. People, also, like to search something that could help them everywhere every time and for this they believe in god. I don't know i feel like that all these things are keeping the god beliefs alive but those don't prove anything about any god.

There are many problems with the idea that people believe in God only because that's what they were taught as children. For example, belief in a God of some description is a feature of every human culture. Why that universality? The Bible says it's because the God who really exists built that knowledge into people. Pascal said there is a God-shaped vacuum inside every person. I know of many people who were raised in god-less households, and became convinced of the reality of God as adults. C. S. Lewis is a well known example. An atheist as a young man, he became a believer almost against his will, because he could not deny the evidence of God's existence and activity in history. I would say to anyone who seriously wants to know whether God is real, don't dismiss belief in God as the relic of childhood fantasies. Instead, carry out an intellectually rigorous investigation of the evidence, without preconceptions, and see where that evidence leads you. Many who have done that have become, like C. S. Lewis, convinced believers.

If you carry out an intellectual rigorous investigation you will find out that there is no proof whatsoever for the existence of a god. The story about God creating the earth and woman from Adams rib has proven wrong. Evolution theory has taken it's place and is proven time and time again. All the miracles and wonders that people didn't understand where an act of god. Now we know better. We know why earthquakes happen, why a tsunami comes into life. Why the earth is not flat but a ball circling around a star. Religion always stopped progress, because when you say god is the answer to all questions we would still live in caves. Science has brought us forward and showed us the universe we live in. And the unverse is amazing, I can only look in ahw because I know through scientific research and experiments how big it is. When you look at it on an intellectual level, God lost and Science won.

As for your title...We do not create God...God created the earth and everything on it.... It is up to parents to teach their Children, and teaching about God is the most important thing out of everything else. People that have God in them they do not have to search for things, all they have to do is depend, and trust in God to get them through what ever is happening in their life. Faith is what people have....but if you need proof all you have to do is call upon the name of Jesus Christ ask him for the truth he will show it to you.....

@peterstreep Peter you are right..You can do good things in this life weather you believe or not....Because every choice everyone makes is either for Good or Evil...People that believe in satan and worship him believe they have good lives... You are so wrong about not missing anything..You are missing the most important thing their is...A relationship with God...Forgiveness of your Sins....

I dont think so, I have a great life and I do not need a book or an God to tell me what is good or what is wrong. I was not brought up with the teachings of any God, I do not miss anything and I do not think that I'm better or worse then somebody who believes in what kind of god he wishes to choose to believe in.

@dlr297 I think life is not black and white. Choices are not good or evil. Tell me for instance, what is the difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorist. Osama bin laden for instance fought against the Russians in the eighties. He was a freedom fighter and a hero then. Now he is/was a terrorist. Life is complicated and it's to easy to think in black or white.

Children will grew up and create God in the way that they want to believe.

They should grow up with no belief and choose when they become adults. If they grow with already with an idea they will 99% keep that idea

True Children will believe anything. It's an survival instinct to mimic your parents or people that are close to you. That's why people in a Christian society believe in one God and people in Greece around 100 bc believed in many Gods. Nowadays its difficult to find a good reason to believe in a god or gods. We now know that the creation of the earth and man is rubbish. Darwin and after him many scientists proved that the evolution theory is a fact. Man is not born out of a rib of a woman. It's called the God of the gaps, everything science can not explain people use the magic hand of God to explain stuff. We do not need God any more to lead us to a happy, moral and purposeful life. Life is wonderful. The stars, the universe and everything. Luckily my parents never told me about god, My father told me stories from the greek gods and heroes like Hercules and these where exciting but just stories. It's the same with the bible, just stories, some great, some cruel and awful. But it's not the truth.

While childhood teachings do bear an effect on a person's beliefs, it is not correct to say that anyone's religious beliefs (or lack of them) are only because they were drummed into his head as a kid. As an individual grows up, if he is exposed to ideas from both sides of the argument, he will carry out an intellectual debate with himself to decide which side to take on (or to remain agnostic).

Till a certain degree. Many people do not think to much and do not critisize what once was told by their parents, grand parents and neighbours. In a small comunity it is difficult to stand up and to say NO, I believe something different. Not everybody has the courage, let alone the freedom to think out of the social box.
