There is no joy for me greater than spending money. There is never a day when I do not spend not for routine stuff but something that puts colour to my life. At the moment I am busy planning for that Christmas party for poor kids which involves a lot of spending gifts, decorations, food the works. This is a joyful activity for me. If I was not spending there would be no joy. Do you enjoy spending on items that break the monotony of life/ What is life anyway?

No, to be honest, I do not like to spend money and I do not like at all going out for Christmas shopping.

I just gave you an example. Not just Christmas shopping but anything that catches my eye,. For me life would be quite boring if I stopped adding anything new. And I enjoy organising this party for poor kids during Christmas time. There is a lot of planning. I have always organised parties be it for office, home, neighbours and friends. I do not do it now.

@allknowing I like organising parties but that's different, and doesn't necessarily involve spending much money!

I'm not a great shopper, nor a great spender. I can't see any point in it. I stick to the basic essentials. However, your kids Christmas party sounds like a good thing to be contributing to.

I often give away my old things and buy news ones - the one who gets the old stuff is happy and so is the shop keeper (lol)

I enjoy bargain hunting, but I rarely shop for myself anymore. I'm always on the lookout for things my kids would like. I especially enjoy shopping for clothes, but I don't have the patience to shop for hours at a time. My shopping excursions are usually short lived and frequently I leave empty handed.

@allknowing I still prefer to shop at regular stores. You don't pay shipping, and you can actually see and feel what you're buying so you know you're getting the right size, the right materials, etc.

@katsmeow1213 Amazon and such sitesw do not charge us for shipping over certain limits. . And also we do not have much of a choice. We have very few malls here. Online shopping suits me as I can search the globe for whatever I am looking for.Sitting in the confines of my home I get my things delivered.

I do my shopping online except for replacing old gadgets for new ones. The old ones are given away.

What I have always felt was when there is money it needs to be spent after keeping enough for a rainy day. We give away old items and buy new ones it kind of brings newness to the house.

I can't say that I enjoy shopping as such, but when it has a good purpose like for the childrens' party, I can see that it would be satisfying.

i d o love to shop on festive season. On all other time i wish i maintained my spending effectively , shelling out on things that are really required. I once had a car which i did not use much so i sold. Now that am married & have a kid there could not be more lessons for me to take care of all the expenditures in a very organised manner & thats the need of the hour.

It goes without saying that one should spend wisely. And never borrow to spend on things that one may not need.

Spending does not bring joy. it is the thought of benefiting others that will bring joy. If you spend your time baking cookies instead of buying decorations and gifts, you will be just as happy.

Rather than keeping money in the bank you do not need it is better that it is spent giving an opportunity for those who manufacture those items to earn. Also I do not like to bake cookies. (lol)

@allknowing, I do not spend much. But I see that your spending has a method and a purpose. When you buy something new ,you are donating the earlier ones. Also, this party for the kids gives happiness to the receiver and the giver.I know you enjoy selecting and ordering the decorations, gifts and the food for the party.

@MALUSE Looking back at my own teenage years we too did not have much money. We did not shop on our own but my older sibling was in charge. It was such a joy to see her bargaining and picking some material meant for me. And if she chose that I would be in ecstasy!!

@allknowing When I was a teenager in the mid-1950s, we didn't have much money. Besides, we lived in a small town where there wasn't much on offer. In retrospect, I'm happy that I lived then and not now when young people are unhappy if they don't have the financial means to wear designer labels. I find this totally perverse.

If I had a lot of money, I wouldn't mind, I would do more for others. But since it is not like that I have to be careful with spending.

@allknowing Also one must remember what is his real position & capacity to spend. He/She must not be forced to buy anything just their friends are already in possession of such a thing.

If you are going to spend money, that is a wonderful occasion to spend money on..and yes, I would imagine it will bring an abundance of joy. Personally, I hate shopping, detest stores and do not like to spend money. When I was working I would enjoy carousing thrift stores and flea markets. I liked shopping there because you could nearly always find something unique for a nominal amount of cash. Now that I am retired I don't shop much at all. If I do purchase something I generally get it online, mostly at Amazon.

When I meant shopping I too do most of that online. A time comes in our life when we have everything specially those gadgets around the house. Just to break the monotony I go for new ones and give away the old.
