It's been hard to write today

The only activity I have engaged in on myLot (up until just now) has been to read and comment, and read comments, etc. It's been hard to write any discussions. I had the news on for most of last night, and for much of the morning. Finally, I had to look at something else, so I tried out my new knitting loom and watched some old reruns of shows from a simpler time. It's been difficult to think of anything interesting and impossible to think of something light or amusing. When I can, I like to be light and amusing. I think I manage that now and again. There's a lot of hardship in the world and I don't want to focus on that here. There are tidbits in the news today, things that might be important. But I can't discuss them yet. I am still in shock, I think. Everything is still swirling around in my head, and I struggle to make connections, sort and process information and emotions. Do you ever feel like you have so much to say, that you can't write it?

On days like that just do as you have been doing, reading other discussions, there is nothing wrong with that.

I had to stay away from the television today or I would have lost the entire day. I have kept the people of France, and everyone really, in my prayers, because these groups can target any place at any time. That is what they have over us, they aren't necessarily predictable. We are all in shock and all saddened and somewhat scared.

I do think there will be more attacks. This is not going away, and sadly, it is unlikely that our leaders have the courage to do what is necessary to protect us.

@Rollo1 I think that it is almost impossible for our governments to protect us fully

Exactly. These attacks could have been anywhere. I guess there was also one in Lebanon that got less publicity. The only way to stop these attacks is to remove hate from human hearts.

I think that we are all horribly in shock and the news is mostly what is on our minds.

It is hard to think of much else, and yet, we need to because life goes on.

Yes, i can relate . Just the thought of those people being gunned down by those fanatics makes me feel like there's no more safe place on earth now .

There is no safety anywhere as long at hate and evil exist in human hearts. We noticed and have collective mourning today because so many were killed at once and they were innocent civilians, yet many are killed every day in our American cities and it seems only those whose deaths serve someone's political agenda get much publicity outside their own cities. Smaller terrorist attacks occur daily in some parts of the world and we don't hear about they because they are small. I pray not only for Paris but for love to replace hate in every heart. That will take an act of God. Meanwhile, we need to show love and caring for those our lives touch.

I have a backlog of articles to add - need to sleep stops me posting all night - I never know where to start so it often gets quite random

@Rollo1 mine are articles written for here - they circle like planes round an airport waiting for landing permission but some new articles I do go in right away

I have my share of that moment too that is why I am not that active when it comes to posting.

In everything that we do there is no consistency mainly when external factors dominate. But that will also pass.

There's a lot going on in the world but we can't continuously focus on them because it will make us depressed. If we can't write then we should read or listen. Hopefully the days ahead will be better. Take it easy.

The weekends are always quiet for me here anyhow, so I've only popped in here a couple of times.

I am still in shock, I read, I live comments, but I cannot think about anything to write. What happened is too bad, I am terrified and I wonder what to expect next.

At first it sounded like you had writers block but by the end it just seemed like you are just overwhelmed with life events going on elsewhere that affected you. I don't watch the news because its depressing I have enough of my own problems never mind take on the problems of others on the media.

I am avoiding TV and the news for the most part today. I listened to my NPR station. They had their regular programming, and I knew they would break in if something else happened, but I appreciate that they don't feel the need to do continuous coverage, it's just too much.

It's hard for me too. Even if we are far from the incident, we are aware of the terror that such an act causes. So sad.

Oh definitely! I'm watching the X Files...which, being only TV, brought more questions than answers to many. But the shock's about what's real...

I do sometimes. At church, I've put Paris on the prayer card for a prayer of concern for those who perished and to put an end on terroristic violence. It was read during worship service.
