We have all been thinking about terrorism these last days, after what happened in Paris.
But I have also seen several responses here, some of them very worrisome.
When people should talk about terrorism and us as two different and opposite ways of seeing the word, I read about muslims and us.
Thus, many people are placing all muslims in the same bag, so as to say, as these fanatic terrorists who make suicide attacks throughout the world.
Can you imagine how the world would change is all muslims were fanatics like that? The non muslims would ve all dead just as, if christian fanatics had their way, the rest of the world would live in fear.
In the so called civilized world that is ashamed of terrorism there are still strong race, genre and cultural issues. They are often treated with violence.
Let us stop small violence in the media, bullying at schools, family abuse and we will be doing something against terrorism.
Your thoughts?

Thing is:
All the terrorists are muslims, BUT not all the muslims are terrorists.
Now the real question is: how do you distinguish a muslim from a muslim terrorist?
You can't unless he tells you or he does... you know what.
That's why people tend to consider every muslim a threat. Because every muslim is a potential threat until proven otherwise

I am sorry, but I don´t think that that is true either. There are terrorists everywhere. There are actions that don´t have that name but still mean unjustified violence against a race or creed.

@Kitariizback Not even the UN has a clear definition about terrorism, but it has warned against dignifying "the murders that these terrorists have committed around the world by associating them with any great religious faith of the world"

I have encountered this attitude many times recently. A friend of mine posted on Facebook that we should stop visiting Muslim countries because these people do not deserve our money. As far as I can remember I was the only the only person to respond in disagreement with him. I have been to Turkey numerous times this year and visited Tunisia twice.
We have had some major incidents of violence here in England, as most countries have at some time or other. If an Englishman commits murder I do not believe that I should accept any of the blame.

@marguicha The greatest fear for any human is the unknown, which leads many to fear a culture or way of life that they do not understand.

I wholly agree with you. And I expect that in spite of economical problems I can visit Greece and Istambul before I die.
Some people fear even babies, as long as they have a different skin color or their parents´ creed is different

Peace always must start at home and then spread out. We can do that ourselves.

I think all that an individual can really do is lead by example and be as tolerant to differences as possible - try and 'block it off at the pass' so to speak. :)
