Once in a while, and every day we see it less, there are vendors who have a huge basket over their heads and walk the streets voicing their products.
They are usually slender: they don´t belong to the culture that needs to take a 30 minute walk every day to keep in shape. They are in shape. They don´t eat junk food but they are either drinking sodas or wine in bigger quantities than they should.
Yesterday one of such men came by my door with strawberries. They were beautiful and half the price they sell it at the supermarket.
I bought a kilo and after I had washed them and placed them in small bags for the frrezer, I thought I should have bought more.
One never knows what they´ll bring though.

This is common in our country. They normally sell fish, vegetables and fruits.

It is a pity that we were colonized by Coca Cola and Mac Donalds, to name a few.

@marlina It is so helpful. And nowadays men come in their motor bikes with fresh fish.

@marguicha I know what you mean, we ate healthy food in Italy before the McDonald's, now the teenagers eat junk food.

Sounds pretty good to me. I live in England and Supermarkets are taking over all small business and even ruining the farming industry with such cheap products. Because they buy in such large volume the obtain a stupidly low price. But also as soon as one supermarket starts to pay less to a farmer/supplier all other supermarkets follow suit thus lowering the overall selling price, putiing less and less money in the farmers pockets.
Pretty disgusting to be honest =\

The same has happened in my country. It is a pity that there is not a law against those big holdings. Supermarkets are owned by large international chains that can afford to lose until the small markets are out of business
