The actual school system is not good.

In my personal opinion they're doing it all wrong. i know it can't be easy but it could be so much better.I say this as a parent whos child will be starting school in about 4 years. I can only hope it improves in that time but, i'm definately doubtful. What does everyone think about the current schooling systems?

I think that parents need to start taking a more active role in the child's education, period. School is just a government run childcare facility at this point. Books are so old that the content is obsolete. My son comes home and when I ask him what he did at school, he doesn't even remember half the time. It takes continuous work.

Does the way schools are run change between states, or perhaps between jurisdictions within the same state, in the US?

@SamJest This information belongs into the post, not a comment. I live in Germany and I can tell you that there are great differences between England and Germany. As far as I know there are also differences between England and Scotland.
