Can men and women be just friends?

Every day I hear people saying that the friendship between men and women does not exist, because in some way or one of the two already has feelings, or falls over time. I personally believe that this kind of friendship can exist. But sometimes, one thing which you can go in through is not love, but addiction: by staying and talking always together, you can create a connection of dependence, which can be confused with love, but it is not.
What's your opinion about man-woman frienship?

As long as you consider the other person as a human being irrespective of gender then there is pure friendship in that relation, the moment you think about the gender of the other person the feeling of love or something else takes place which creates the confusion. So rather than talking about the man-woman friendship, it should always be seen as a friendship of two human beings who have a strong trust and bonding within themselves.

@ajuharsh Very true, but somehow most people (or guys?) cannot take the gender out of the equation. That's when the trouble starts.

Yes opposite genders can be just friends. I don't understand how anyone can say that it can't be. I have male friends, and my hubby has female friends.

yes why not. It's hard on internet cause most of the strangers you met here, they all going to end up in a similar way, by telling you how they feel about you. But in real life, yes a girl and boy can be friend. My best friend is a girl.and we are friend from 6 years. And i think we'll be friends forever. She has a boyfriend. And he is also a good friend of me. So where is the problem?

It can exist but somehow it will always be on the verge of one person getting attracted to the other (unless the other person is gay). Now I think it is true that men and women can never really be friends.
Ah life and love and it's complexities.

I do think that men and women can be just friends without being romantically in love with each other.

A Man Woman friendship is difficult to have in the long run (much of it depends on the society, your values and outlook), but if you get together as friends, trust me, this is the best friendship that can ever happen.
It does not require any special efforts. Just like other friendship where you regard the other friend as an entity/individual, you should do the same here.

For regardless of gender, we can still be friends. There can even friendship after an intimate relationship is broken. I really believe in that per observation from married couples who broke up, they are still friends because of their children. But generally, I guess, some won't be friends again because of wounded feelings but time will heal. They can still recover their friendship.

@thequestioner,@ajuharsh is right. It is being too conscious about the gender of the other person that creates confusion.

Ofc! I've always had male friends. I think they view me sometimes as another guy, and there was never any confusions.

in this i think it depend on both of them because who feel for who we dont know but they are good friends then no doubt and dont care about world because they just want to pass comments .if you feel other as friend then say friendship and feel love then say in love.
