I have a few bonsai plants. One of my favorites is my lemon plant. I had it in a bonsai container for years and the plant did okay.. but this year around I did not prune it much and put it in a big container and to my surprise I had around 8 lemons which were huge and juicy. I thought it was done fruiting for this year and today I was surprised to see more flower and small lemons again. I have decided to let it grow to two or three feet in height and see how it it works out. Here is a picture of the plant I had taken earlier.

I thought bonsai plants were just a few inches tall. I didn't know they could be that big.

Your bonsai lemon fruits are lovely! As I could see, they are rounded and very much like our local citrus called "calamanci."

@salonga Yeah this one is nice and rounded and sour.. makes great lemonades. I have another one which is oval in shape .. it always had a few fruits this year but it is much younger and shorter.

Your lemon trees are wonderful. I have a dwarf pomegranate, it's not a bonsai, it's about 3 feet high and now it's full of small pomegranates.

I have a not very successful lemon tree. My mother always claims - I don't know if it's true - that the lemon is the only fruit that can be flowering and fruiting at the same time.

@boiboing Your mother is right, it does flower and fruit at the same time.. so do pomegranates and a few other fruits here.

@boiboing I guess she has not seen the other trees of the tropical climates.

@sofssu I guess my mum's claim needs modifying to say it's the only tree she has seen that can do it.

I couldn't manage to grow a lemon tree of any size. I wish I could even grow one indoors but it's too cold here and no sunny windows.

@Rollo1 Citrus trees don't thrive in cold climates I guess. What other kinds of plants do you grow in your garden?

@sofssu I never had a lemon tree, but there is so much you can do with lemons. Even besides using them with food and drink.... you can use them in cleaning, and disinfecting. Ok, now I am jealous. I want a lemon tree.

@TexanTornado Yup in this cold and rain. I do enjoy a dribble of lemon juice in my salads and like my lemon, ginger mint flavored water.

Glad that you decided to repot it and got lemons by doing so. I had one years ago and my dog ate the tree

@Jessicalynnt It wont be much of a tree.. I am not planning on letting it grow any bigger than two feet.. as I need to keep it in my pergola.

I've never had the chance to grow citrus fruit. It would be fun to grow your own lemons and use them when they are ready.,
