Day 46 – What If
2 Kings 23:1-30
We have all played what if games, sometimes with ourselves and sometimes with others. For instance what if you had married the first person who asked and not the fifth? What if you had bought the other house you looked at? What if you decided to go to college instead of getting married or joining the service or having children or…
There are a lot of what if’s in our lives and in the world around us.
Josiah was king in Judah and he sought to do the Lord’s will to the point he made a covenant with the people to be faithful to Him. What exactly did that mean? It meant getting rid of everything that spoke of idolatrous worship in Judah – getting rid of the idols, groves, altars and all the priests who burned incense to them. It meant getting rid of every hint of evil in the land, including all those who practiced witchcraft, sought mediums and burning all the bones of those who did the same.
What if we did the same in our lives today? What if we got rid of every hint of evil and all those who tried to turn our hearts away from God? What if we took the same action as Josiah and made a covenant with God to serve only Him?
What if starts with you and it starts with me. There is nothing holding us back from taking back what Satan stole from us – our homes, children, family members, our neighborhood, and where we work.
We’ve all heard the saying: Drastic times call for drastic measures. These are the times we live in – they are desperate times, just look at the news of the past couple days. Just look at the local news, state news, and the news in general. We need to make a change and we need to do it now. It’s time to kick Satan out of our homes and our lives. It’s time to take back everything he stole from us.
The time is now. Let’s turn what if into JUST DO IT!
Let’s pray: Father, the time is now for me to take a stand and kick Satan out of my life. Help me to take back all the territory he stole from me – my home, children, family, neighborhood, and my work place. Help me live my life according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
