Do You Eat Eggplant?

I have two varieties of eggplant in my garden. I don't really know how these varieties are called. Even if I eat them both, I've always favored the deep-purple colored, long shaped variety over the light green-oval shaped one. I do stir fry them in olive oil and dip in lemon and soy sauce mixture. I have always loved eggplant since I was a child. But, one time I was told that eggplant is high in purines so for quite a while I stopped eating to avoid gout. Then, I saw from Ghout Diet Tips that eggplant is actually one among those categorized as low purine vegetables. So now I am eating eggplants again just as I eat other low purine vegetables like broccoli,.Cabbage, carrots, celery, corn, cucumbers, lettuce, okra, potato, onions, and watermelon. But of course I make sure I eat in moderation.

@salonga Some people have mentioned that it is too slimey but that is only if you stew it. If you fry it no slime kind of like Okra but then some don't like how soft it is. I don't care I like them lol its not for everyone.

Brinjal is one of my favorite vegetable. Can cook it many ways and always come out delicious. I've planted once and produced lots of brinjals. I had brinjals for lunch and dinner everyday until I almost turned purple. I love the purple variety.

Eggplant reduces blood pressure...but it has high in uric acid bad for those having arthritis and goiter.

But according to Gout Care Center: "Studies have shown that vegetables as a rule don’t tend to raise uric acid levels as much as other purine rich foods. Vegetables are obviously good for you as a rule, and should be encouraged but some vegetables are higher in purines than others and the list does not include eggplant. Eggplant is actually categorized as lower in purine. The Vegetables higher in purines includes: asparagus, mushrooms, dark leafy green vegetables (due to their higher iron levels), beans, lentils, peas, cauliflower , tofu, and even tomatoes due to their higher acidity and lower ph."
