My nephew is idle now. He's been trying to find a job for two months, but has not gotten the job. Today, he came to me and borrow money for the daily living cost. I'm sorry for him, so I lend money to him. How about you? Do you lend money for your relatives? If they are in financial difficulty? Note: image picks from futuready.com

When it comes to my family and close relatives, I don't feel regrets lending them money if they needed it. Sometimes it's the only resources they have. Just make sure that the money will be used well and only for important purppses as not to abuse you. In the end, no one can help each other but families, they are the only ones who can be there for each other.

Totally agree with you, that families is the only people who is really care to us, especially when we in the bad situation. I feel that have a good relationship with families or relatives is very helpful when we need a help from them.

I think he'll be back for more and then again for more. You may as well GIVE it to him as I doubt he'll pay you back. I lend money only if I know people are genuine about repaying me.

Yes, I also think it. I will give the money if he is really in financial difficulty for long time because does not get a job immediately, but I want to teach him that he must pay back the money in order to motivate him to get a job and get the wages.

@srisahara Hope you are sure it is not spent on unnecessary things. No harm in helping out family in hours of need bu.But only give money if you can afford it if the money is not returned.

I am sure that he will use the money for the necessary things, I also sure that he will return the money when he gets a job and receive the wages. I know he is a good man. Thank you on your suggestion on this matter.

I try not to. I did it once and it was quite a lot because they needed help with their mortgage. Suffice to say I won't do it again and it's usually not a good idea.

Yes, it is normal that you take the decision to stop lend money for your relatives because you have a bad experience in this case. It is a preventive action that will safe you from worst situation. I agree with you...

@srisahara I don't mind helping out family, but when I know they make more money then me and my husband do, then yeah I get pissed off that obviously they don't budget well.

If that happens to me, i will see what i can spare and tell him that he can have it, at least i won't feel bad in case he or she does not pay. Returning for more is another thing but i would still be open to reconsidering the situation.

Actually, in my deep heart, I will afford him the money if he is really in financial difficulty for long time and does not get job immediately. But, I have to educate him to have a duty to pay back the money. Yes, you are right the situation must be considered to avoid worse.
