Tempted to buy a toilet for £15k

The past week or so I have been trying to find a new project to undertake, I am looking at buying a couple of properties to restore and then either rent out or sell for profit. I like the idea of converting an old chapel into a grand country home. . however, they are pretty pricey. I have come across an old ladies toilet that I am quite seriously thinking about purchasing. Obviously I would need planning permission to turn it into a house, but for the price, only £15k and it being in such a central location, I am really tempted to take a punt on it. Do you ever buy some thing that is totally barmy just because you think it is quirky?

Lol, at least you have already water everywhere. Seriously, you need 15/25000 Euros more to turn this into a small house (I am renovating an old house actually, but there is less work to do than in this building where you have to open new windows and doors and to demolish anything inside). I don't know the prices of rents in this place, but for a small apartment like this, it would not be economically profitable before at least 25 years here. It should be interesting, if it was less expensive, for somebody wanting to demolish this building to build a house, but trying to convert and renovate this thing in bricks seems a nonsense for me. Just my opinion.

I am actually seeing the land being the value here as it is slap bang in a main highstreet, so potentially a commercial shop with a flat above. . . Average rent in the street for a 1 bed flat is about £400 pcm and £500 for a house. I am tempted!

@destry If there are some requests for commercial shops in this place, it can be a good idea, but I would not build a flat above. They are generally empty/not used in main streets, and the stairs to the upper floors have often been removed to have more space for the shops.

@topffer True true - I am just toying with the idea, but I can see the potential for something ;)

Looking at the photo this place is very small, you cannot convert it into a house.

I saw a show about this the other week and it can be very profitable if you have the eye for it and experience. Best of luck :D

Not at $15K. And I think you may need to spend more than a penny on it. But then, maybe you're flush with money.

Not a bad idea though you should look forward for that plan to accomplish.

I always thought it would be cool to buy a set of underground mens lavs in Manchester and convert them into a bar. I would have called it 'The Cottage'.
