Long Lasting Relationships Part 5 and last of these discussions for now :O)

A couple of years ago two guys moved into my building and I got to meet Larry & Jerry--they had been together 58 years--just recently Jerry had a stroke--Larry, of course, visited him in the hospital every day and saw him through rehabilitation--I didn’t know them very well but was supportive in any way I could be--Jerry never did make it home dying in the hospital. Both their families were very supportive as Larry went through the transition of moving and going on without his partner.
Through the Internet I met Paul--he and his lover of 46 years, Harry have led quite the exciting life--they both have/had great bodies and in their youth worked as actors/strippers/models while holding academic jobs--they lived and traveled all over the world and now have settled down 'Down Under' on land far away from the cities--I have done all my correspondence with Paul and he is quite the opinionated guy and a delight to read--he sent me a book--a mystery/art/gay thriller--that was a good read--he, also, sends me pictures of the 'wildlife' that visit their home and there is great variety--they have wild birds come for 'breakfast' every morning, a frog that visits them daily, plus kangaroos, snakes, etc. and they are always working on their property--building ponds, waterfalls, etc.
They have little patience with today's society and prefer to be left alone. They are in their 60s and Paul doesn't like what's happening to his body--he still sees the chiseled body but he knows it ain't there!
I, also, met William through the Internet--he and his lover Sam, along with their adopted daughter, have been featured in a MTV special "My Parents Are Gay" and were in Rosie O’Donnell's special on HBO.
They adopted their daughter 20 years ago as a baby--remember 20 years ago it was a rarity for gay men to adopt--and they are now going through 'empty nest syndrome' as their daughter went off to college.
I have been very blessed with the couples I have known/know through the years and though I chose a different route and prefer the single life I take joy in their successful coupling.
I, also, believe without the yesteryear stigma of divorce that kept many non-gay couples together the fact that gay couples stay together for so many years is quite the achievement.
PS I would love to hear of couples that you know whom have been together for 30+ years.

I instinctively knew I would be a horrible parent and so I never wanted a child. When they were young I was able to shower my nephews and niece with presents and even then it would only be for a short time. I always liked older people!!

@GreatMartin Fair enough, not everyone is cut out to be a parent, but it's one of the most fulfilling roles you can have.

@jaboUK Sorry but I don't quite agree with that statement--I've experienced and seen too many cases where it wasn't true.

That's good enough for me!! Of course with your being elusive about your 'partner' which is none of my business you allow me to have my own thoughts!
