Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough on Dancing With the Stars

Ahhhhhhhmazing. If only I could be so graceful. A friend of mine sent me this link of Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin's daughter, Bindi who's all grown up and paired this season on Dancing With the Stars with the oh so, handsome Derek Hough. As inspiration to learn the lovely, Viennese Waltz, these two make it look effortless. I'm inspired to give it a whirl. What about you?

I just read a feature about her yesterday. Not only has she grown up to be a beautiful, smart and caring young woman, but she is also carrying on her father's work. He would be very proud of Bindi.

She is also very positive, outgoing and a hard worker. She really surprised me.

I haven't kept up with the show, but I have seen a few clips of her dancing. Wow, she is just a natural - I can see why she has come out ahead with Dancing With The Stars! The great thing with social dance (ballroom) is you can start at any age. I took ballroom in my late 20s for cross training in figure skating (in case I ever took up ice dancing). It came easy to me too - but you only look good together if your partner looks good too (sorry, I danced with a bunch of noodle partners). My instructor always said I look high energy - and our energies do not look balanced (sorry, I will not step down to dance like a noodle). So I think Miss Bindi is doing quite well. She's got the whole package - form, grace, and you can "feel" her as she emotes - it's a pleasure for the judges and the audience. And if you are going to give it a whirl, I say go for it!

@AdrienneJenkins You know what's funny, I've mostly only mentioned my skating or dance through comments (on any site) - I told myself I wasn't going to tell the tales until I knew that a site would be around for a long, long time . . . good thing I didn't leave those stories at B! I write about it all eventually!

Oh, wow. A figure skater too. Cool. Do you have any posts on either dancing or figure skating? If so, please suggest away. I'd love to come check 'em out.

I have watched the video, she looks beautiful, so graceful. My husband is a good Viennese Waltz dancer, much better than I am.

I've watched the entire season. If she doesn't fall or break a leg she should be the winner this season.

One of my guilty pleasures is watching this show. I started when I had knee surgery a few year back and needed to be entertained before bed. I tape it now and watch it when I have TV time, We all know her story but wow she is an awesome dancer and human being.

@PainsOnSlate Even though I dance, I always forget to make a point of watching this show. I'll have to start DVRing and cheer her on for the big win. How many more weeks are left?

Yes, it's surprising how little time they have and they're under such pressure to perform well and being technically on point.

I haven't watched last night's episode yet. Hubby prefers The Voice so I tape DWTS and watch later (probably Thursday). But I have been watching and that gal is amazing. She even has Derek frustrated because he doesn't know how to raise the bar any higher for her. So frustrated he might not come back last year (though he has said that for the last couple of years but this time I think he might be stressed enough to take a step back next season). Personally, I had dancing with Derek on my bucket list. I removed it because it is way too unrealistic. Ah, one can dream, can't they?

I haven't seen it, but it has been on the news here. It's hard to believe how the years have flown by and that, yes, she has grown up.

They were a beautiful couple (Bindi is such a sweet girl), yes makes me want to get back to dancing again. Many years ago as a young girl I taught ballroom dancing at Arthur Murray dance studio in Philadelphia, After work in the evenings the instructors would often go out dancing to really enjoy the art of dancing and many times drew a crowd of onlookers.
