My birthday cake

My son gave me this birthday cake last Wednesday. I was so happy because it was also my third ‘bubbling anniversary’. I wished to be a bubbler until the end, but alas! The site finally burst.
Anyway, this black forest cake was enough for the 3 of us at home: I, my son, and my only sister. At my age, I still smile when my son buys me cakes; his love for me demonstrated with the cake. Valentine’s day last year, he also gave me a small cake, with a red heart-icing.
Are you still given cakes on your birthday?

It's kinda like a a reflection of how well you raised him up and how he appreciates and reciprocates everything you have done for him A small token to symbolize things that money cannot buy, best wishes and may God bless all of you always

yes, he is not a demonstrative son, but when I or he sleeps, he pecks me on my cheek. When I arrive home, or he comes home, he kisses me too.

@ridingbet Yes, I noticed. It was revived by someone and mistook it as new.

yes, he is 23 years old, and although he is not overtly demonstrative of his love for me, he still shows it by buying some things for me.
I was also not fond of cakes, but if given by my son, I gladly accept it.

I do not remember the last time I had cake on my birthday. Often I go out for a nice meal, though.

at my age, I just stay at home and eat some pasta or noodles, symbolic of long life (Chinese tradition of Filipinos. )

thank you. that cake stayed in the fridge for only 12 hours, because my son who is a 'voracious sweet-eater' took the lion's share. he took my share, because I am not really into sweets.

maybe he can try buying you ube cake or carrot cake or mocha/coffee-flavored cakes so it's not too sweet?

the chocolate cake is not very sweet for me. just enough sweetness. sometimes my son buys the smaller cakes but it is the thought that counts for me.
sorry for the much-delayed response.

@willmah a hotel buffet meal sounds more value for money. how much do they cost? what do they serve?
