Meeting with your Leader

The Asia Pacific Economic Conference is ongoing here in our country. We who are in the metropolis are feeling the effect as roads have been closed (which means heavy traffic) and security has been tightened (which means a cop [we don't trust] in every corner). There are mixed feelings and reactions about the meeting of these world leaders in our small yet significant country. We wonder what they are talking about. If I were given a chance to join the meetings and say one thing, I wonder what I'll talk about. Will it be about the environment? about the armed conflict? about the economy? How about you, what will you say to the leaders of the world? Special shoutout to @hereandthere and @owstalaga

I would tell them to stop allowing themselves to be punked by the factions in the world that are aiming to cause trouble. They have to decide what they stand for and then stand for it.

They should, as soon as possible. The world needs it. They can't seem to agree on what to do, getting clouded by their own interests.

If ever given the opportunity to meet our "rock-star" Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, I would ask him to raise our minimum wage to $15 and to postpone giving refuge to the 25000 Syrian refugees till 2020. . . Ey, I read in the news that our rock-star prime minister is being mobbed by shrieking girls down there!

It pains me to admit that many of our fellowmen are stuck on the superficial level.

all three are major issues and global co-operation is essential to sorting the whole mess out, but without economic control of resources there is nothing to spend on solutions so economy comes first

@hereandthere yes, it needs a stable foundation to build on and that requires economic forces

"Stop the wars already!!". That's probably what I'm going to say. If I can say something else, I'd say "Go feed the hungry!".

Yes we should. It's the leader who goes to war. No soldier will declare war on others.

I think they need to talk about the world in general and what they can do to make it a better place for all to live in. Then stop talking and take action.

I agree. Action over discussions. Much of the problems are due to less action more talk.

I would tell the leaders of this world that they do not need to spend all that money for meeting each other. How about doing it by "teleconference"?

@hereandthere Since it's been weeks since the APEC, many now claim that the country earned a considerable sum from those who visited us. I'm just not sure if it equals what we lost with all the traffic, flight cancellations, etc.
