I Know That Man !

While eating breakfast at an eatery , after my medical laboratory exams yesterday , a good looking middle age man came in . He was impeccably, casually , dressed . I was trying to remember who he was , because he looks like the priest I know from our hometown . When he finished buying his item , he turned back to leave and saw me. He smiled broadly and said “Have you been long there ?” . To which I smiled coyly , and said yes . Then he waved and hurriedly went out . Gosh , I hate aging at that very moment ! I know him , yet I wasn’t sure he was what I was thinking he might be because it has been decades since I saw the said priest . But anyway , had we talked, I would know who he really was . Would you greet back when greeted by somebody you know, yet aren’t sure if he is really what you are thinking him to be ?

I am a bit shy so I would just smile.. I really wouldn't get into a conversation .. I just mumble some words.. I am like that until I know someone well.

I understand you because i have known from your previous posts that you are a naturally shy person . However with me a sociable person , at that time , have gotten some shyness in me , so i just said yes to the question and smiled coyly .

Happens quite many times with me. Like the other day, when I was buying tomatoes from the roadside vendor, I heard someone call my out from inside a car. He even stopped and waved at me. I could see him, but I could not have a clue asto who he was. But as courtesy I waved back. He smiled and went off. Two days later the guy next door appeared on his balcony and as I was doing the flower pots, he asked me - hey, how much did that tomatoes cost you that day. And there I was... I recalled the prior incident. I could behave as if all was okay with me and I did recognize him that day I dont see many discussions about people getting confused with girls though!!!

@SIMPLYD I have no clue. I probably will not recognize a person whom I have not seen in over a decade.

@thesids Oh i can . But it has to be that i will talk to him so along the course of our conversation i would mention things that can assure me he is what i thought him to be .

At least in your case , you were able to identify who that man really was . As for me , i am still baffled if he really was the priest i though him to be , because he seems younger though despite a decade i haven't seen him .

I have had it go both ways. Sometimes it is worth risk to look a little dumb.

@SIMPLYD Meaning looking a little dumb on people you think you know that you didn't. Then when you did see someone you did know it was like your life improved 1000 times for the better.

See, we all seems to have experienced similar moment like this . But as for me , actually i know the name because he is a priest from our hometown . Though i haven't seen him for more than a decade so i was hesitant that it was him indeed . He was young looking that's why , when in fact he is older than me by more than 15 years .

But it's not the case with me , because i remained seated while just looking at him . Shyness has gotten the best of me since i am not so sure if he is what i was thinking him to be . I played safe by just coyly smiling at him and answered a feeble yes.

Sometimes someone's face looks vaguely familiar ,but I don't hastily greet them in case my memory should play a trick on me .

Usually not. I'm a bit shy so I'd wait until that person approaches me first before starting a conversation.

Oh you are shy indeed . If i am very sure of the person , i would be the one to approach and greet him . I am a sociable and nosy person that's why . Imagine not seeing each other for more than a decade ? !

As a priest...I've had to, wing a few conversations...meaning, people would talk to me...they were sure they knew me...but, I don't think I knew them. It's...always kinda awkward when someone talks to me and keeps going and I'm not at all sure I know them, and they have me confused for someone else:)

Oh you are a priest . Indeed , people will keep coming to talk to you , because as a priest they look up to you . Talking to you would be a big thing for them already . So it must be confusing with lots of people whom you don't even know approaches you to be blessed .

ayy! I also had that experience when we went to church last Sunday. "Peace be with you", I greeted a man beside me. he smiled and said, "you are looking good now, Ingrid!". I just nodded, tried to recall where I met him, but I cannot not, till now.

You know , the aging process has crept up with us that's why . So just smiling and later thinking who he was indeed would just be what we could do.
