Flash Floods

What a night we had last night here in Arkansas. We never got the bad storms like predicted but we did get a tremendous amount of rain. It rained to so hard that you couldn't see right in front of you. The rain came down so fast and so heavy that the storm drains in our apartment complex couldn't keep up with the demand. The parking lot flooded with water standing waist deep. There were four apartments that are built on the lower part of the lot and they flooded with water about ankle deep. My poor brother was out late last night attending to the residents with the flooded apartments and trying to free some of the storm drains from leaves and debris. It was well after midnight when he went to bed and this all started happening around 6:30pm last night. He was wet from the waist down and was cold since the temps had started dropping. I hope he doesn't get sick from the wet and cold. I'm tired this morning as I waited up for him last night and then got up this morning at 5:15am. My brother will be going in late today since he was up so late and I'm hoping that Daisy will let me take a little nap later on. I pray everyone that was in the path of this storm is safe and dry. It was a nasty one and I know the high winds and tornadoes did damage to some cities.

We have had a flash flood warning here because of the really heavy rain.

Did you have any damages anywhere? It was a lot of rain here.

@gudheart That is good. We were fortunate ourselves that our apartment was up on a hill or water would have come inside because we are on the first floor.

@simone10 Not much damage from what I can tell.

Glad that you are both safe. And I hope that you can get some rest during the day. The U.S. seems to have a lot of bad weather this year.

Yes, we really have had a lot of bad weather recently. I hope this isn't a prelude to the winter.

I hope everyone will remain safe out that way. We got one heck of a wind the nite fore last but it wasn't bad enough to wake me. Whew.

I suppose there are parts of TX that got splashed pretty good @simone10 but I live out in the far southwest by the NM border, it's pretty much dry here most of the time but boy do we get some sand storms

@rebelann We used to get a lot of sand storms when I lived in Vegas. It was the most fascinating thing I have ever seen.

I heard it was worse for Texas as far as severe weather goes. It had dwindled down a bit by the time it go to us.

@sofssu No but I was worried. We are surrounded by woods on three sides and most of those trees are huge and tall.

If it rains any harder, Arkansas will float up north and replace Ohio lol

Lol...you are probably right. We almost floated away. Thankfully our apartment sits on a hill.

Yes, it is and I'm just glad that our apartment is up on a hill or it could have been us with the flooding.

I felt so bad for him to be in that pouring rain and then the temps started dropping. I just hope he doesn't get sick.

We were under a tornado watch all day and it was popping out tornadoes along the way so I was very unsure of what was going to happen. Fortunately, we just a lot of rain and winds which was bad enough.

You poor people. It would be awful having your apartment flood. I guess it's your brother's job to help those that were affected. I hope he doesn't catch a cold from his soaking.

@simone10 You are lucky! Having great family members is awesome! I knew a woman who was a mirror image control freak of the Mother-in-Law she hates, she is not welcome there so she makes a big deal about the negative instead of celebrating love.

I'm glad you're all safe. I have friends down there in that area that are safe too. My family is in the little rock area. Not sure if they got hit. Haven't spoke to them recently. But now I'm thinking I should.

We experience that line of weather here in the panhandle. a good bit of rain and wind. A good thing that the Fort Pickens had campers evacuate the day beofre becuase high surf and wind has sand covering the roadway once again.

We are up on a little hill so we were fine. All the rain ran down the parking lot and stopped where these apartments were.

I know that my brother had to have their carpet cleaning people come out for two days to get rid of the water and treat the carpet so there would be no mold.
