Elk Antlers - the perfect thing for your dog to chew on!

Our previous lab grew up on rawhide bones. Little did we know they weren't the best thing for her. When we got Ruby the decision was made, no more rawhide. But we needed something to give her that she could chew on without getting hurt. At first I got her some of the Nylabones. You know what they are. But have you ever stepped on one of those small pieces of plastic - they hurt and I decided that they could not possibly be good for a dog. I saw Elk Antlers advertised on Facebook and I did some reading about them and finally ordered one. She wasn't all that sure about it at first...but she didn't give up! I buy her the ones that are 7 to 9 inches long. She's a big girl, but they also have small ones for small dogs. They are not cheap but they last a long time. If you are looking for an Elk Antler for your dog you can find them online at many stores.

Most of the elk are out west. I bet you can find them on Amazon.

@AbbyGreenhill LOL, I am pretty sure that the Swiss custom would never let them pass. Many items are not allowed to cross our borders.

I get antlers off Amazon, some may be deer or something, don't know, but the puppy loves them, and he really needs things to chew on

My mother used to buy beef bones in the supermarket for the dogs. Elk antlers must be the new thing.

They don't splinter which is the hazard from bones. We used to ride in cars with out seatbelts too....things have changed.

I never thought of that, thanks for the idea. Ally doesn't like to chew, I call her a soft mouth. She needs to get her teeth cleaned already and she isn't even 5 yet.

Her teeth would almost clean themselves if she chewed.

The wetnosesdogs don't like rawhide or the nylabones. I will give it a go with the Elk Antler.
