Do Mylotters who don't put the effort in annoy you?

As I have been glancing over the discussions that have been made so far today, I feel very disheartened. Disheartened that amongst the spam and plagarized content (that quickly does get deleted), there are so many discussions that are simply consist of one sentence. And they are not even ground breaking sentences that I find of any value whatsoever. I am not expecting Shakespeare, nor long monolougues. But is it too much to expect people to put some effort and thought into a new discussion! When a new discussion simply states "It is raining in my city" or, "I am board today", I tend to face palm. Is this the extent of some peoples intelligence and creative juices? Do they honestly believe that a mundane statement is a discussion? Even a 4 year old has more to say. I think that there are two types of people using myLot - those that put the effort in, and those that don't. Sadly, those that don't seem to be swelling in numbers!

There are also those who come here for fun and don't think about it being a writing site and therefore they don't think about what others are doing or whether their content will please others or not. Some don't bother about spelling mistakes - made by them or others - either. Have a good day

I find that extreemly annoying and I think those people don't care they just want to make their money and walk away. When I see those I normally just move on and don't pay much attention to their posts anymore. What I really don't like is how people just post links to articles and that is it, like we cant find that on our own.

They need to at least give their opinion of what is contained in the link. I would think those would be del by admin also.

@Castlerock34 @AbbyGreenhill I always report those that are very flimsy and lacking any detail and value to the admins, largely the get deleted - unless it is some ones first post, and they say "Hi, I'm new" - that seems to be acceptable

@AbbyGreenhill I hope so because it is super annoying. My biggest pet peeve is lazy people and those people are lazy!

I believe that some just come to spend some times and look around. They do not intend to stay and they do not care about what they write.

@LadyDuck I too do the same, members who care to respond to other members' discussions are the best to interact with ..

@kiran8 When I check the posts with no responses I always see long lists of post by the same users. I believe that some think that writing and waiting is the right thing to do here.

@ivyparkgirl No spammers usually write plenty of meaningless posts with catching titles to attract comments but they do not interact. More that the number of discussion, I look at the numbers of interactions when I check a profile.

I don't respond to them either. MyLot has a clever algorithm to prevent posts like that from generating income if no one responds.

comments or responds that doesn't have sense at all.. i prefer not to respond to it.. :) but sometimes I give advice to the person to make myLot as healthy and sociable type of communication not just counting dollars.

@destry (1372), I like discussions and love to read what people have to say,and the Lord knows I talk or write way too much most of the time. I don't know when to stop. But I kind of agree with you, and I guess since the other place has closed we will be getting a lot of these kinds here. Love ya, and great comment and post.

yes.. its very annoying.. why can't we just be thankful and be truthful with our discussions and responses here in myLot... ? we must not take advantage although it gives us income whatsoever.. it tend us to help with our problem and even learning for our life..... and why just don't we stop counting on the dollar signs and just be ourselves. like creating new friends and sharing own ideas not just of money... trust me, blessings will come for those who are generous and understanding.... not just for scam and money just easy money.. just like what ive discussed about gambling, there is no such way as easy money that can be held for a long time... :)

I understand what you mean. It is frustrating sometimes because I spend more quality time reading than writing and so I want to read something worth my time ..

@AbbyGreenhill And to be honest, it annoys me, it frustrates me when the answer is simple. . . write more, work harder, take the opportunity that is there and don't just cry about things!

Indeed, it's the same throughout life. I have noticed that here, and in the big world that those who don't put the effort in are the first to cry at not being successful and sad that they do not have what the effort putter inners have!

A very valid point!! What adds to this is when some of them do post a good discussion , and you respond to them, you don't get a response back!! It's like they placed the discussion just to increase their count

It absolutely infuriates me to see posts like that. I only hope these people aren't part of the sort of 'reciprocal like' circles that were so prevalent in the heyday of the other site. If they're not then they won't get many responses so hopefully shouldn't be making any money. They might get fed up and move on.

I certainly don't see the point of a "discussion" that only consists of one sentence! Even a "poll" would require more explanation!

Even some that have more than one line seem to be lacking in any edification. It is boring and a waste of my time so I simply ignore them and look for some more meaty discussions to respond to. I think some of meaningless ones get deleted by admin. At any rate, I don't waste my time getting upset over them. There is nothing I can do about it but hope that myLot will catch up to deleting the empty posts. If they don't make money, perhaps they will go elsewhere. Regardless, I am not going to let them put a damper on my enjoyment and success at myLot. Fortunately, there are some who put effort into thoughtful discussions. I opt to respond to those and interact with the conscientious members.

We don't need all discussions to be meaty . Someone here asked about your happiest pet memories. Sometimes some lighthearted posts are welcome. Sometimes a discussion that makes me feel warm and fuzzy is welcome.

@Hatley Common thoughts and questions are equally good, as long as effort goes into it.. Everyone has a story of interest.. And we all share the challenges and struggles of life that make for good conversation.

As long as guidelines are followed users can go about doing what they like to do. It is left to you to ignore what you do not like.
