Black Friday Is Dying

I ran across an interesting article about how the whole concept of 'Black Friday' is not what it used to be. You can get the same deals throughout the year and many of the 'dirt-cheap' deals are for off brands. Most retailers want to get you inside the door and will entice you with other 'bargains' to spend more money that you probably didn't plan on. Impulse buying -- it's a science (and another topic).
So, does anyone still camp out? Is it worth it?
Don’t get me wrong, there are some great deals to be had this time of year. But lining up in the cold to nab a cheap 55” TV? No longer necessary. Black Friday isn’t what it used to be, and that’s a good thing.

I have never been a Black Friday person. No deal is worth camping out for.

it is taking off in Britain in recent years. At some shops last year there were violent riots over some bargains. I avoid it.

@jstory07 exactly - and a lot of the bargains are nothing of the sort

I usually avoid crazy shopping days as people can go crazy on those days and I am a man of peace.

Only the greedy stores will be open on Thanksgiving. Greed is why they are open and a lot of employees work that day for the extra money that they need to support their family.

I think Black Friday is slowly dying out due to online shopping.
