Being someone who has suffered insomnia pretty much my whole life, now at 33 it's starting to truly annoy me. My brain don't want to shut off, there is always one more thing I "need to do" then another and another and so on. I'm not into mess so that in my mind is not an option, can't meditate and that seems to just as hard and trying to force myself to sleep. I just feel like this is my life and I have to accept the insomnia. Grrr... Why must I feel like I always need to be doing something or I might miss something over just taking my butt to sleep? It's a problem..

I know, insomnia is not disease but it can encourage a disease. If you want to reduce your insomnia, try to much praying, yoga or meditation and try to think that there is no work to do but have a rest and go sleep. I think insomnia is about habit, you should change your habit...

I don't think you read what I wrote, because you're telling me to do the things that I said I cannot. And I don't pray. And thinking that is a habit means that you do not under The invisible disease of insomnia .....

try to set a fix time for your sleep, avoid napping during day, relaxation exercises will help you a lot, avoid stimulants like coffee, tea before sleep dont rush to the Medicines, i think you just need tto modify your lifestyles a bit

Setting a fixed time would mean I'd have to force myself which is a struggle like I said. I do not nap at all. I do exercise. Coffee actually makes me tired because of reversed Chemical reaction in my brain because of my adolescence ADD ADHDgrowing into adulthood ADD ADHD. But not tired enough to sleep that's just a body tired.

Sleep has always been a problem for me too, and I am almost 60 now. I could deal with it if I didn't have a set schedule, like a job or school. The past 5 years, I have used prescription sleeping pills. I know a lot of people disapprove, but they have made my life so much better.
