Euthanasia is also called as mercy killing. Which means terminating the life of a terminally ill person to relieve him from unbearable pain. Euthanasia can be voluntary or involuntary. if voluntary it can falls in to passive euthanasia or active euthanasia. Involuntary euthanasia is when the person is unable to give his consent or not asked to give his consent. like criminal execution or when the patient is comatose or a kid. Voluntary euthanasia is practiced with patients consent. there patients ask for death to end his pain and suffering. Voluntary euthanasia is typically performed when a person is suffering from a terminal illness and is in great pain. When the patient performs this procedure with the help of a doctor, the term assisted suicide is often used. There are two types of voluntary euthanasia as passive euthanasia and active euthanasia. Passive euthanasia is carried out by terminating a medication that is keeping a patient alive or not performing a life-saving procedure. Active euthanasia involves the administration of a lethal drug or otherwise actively ending the life. Voluntary euthanasia is allowed in some countries like Netherlands, Colombia, Belgium, Luxembourg and some states like Oregon, Washington and Montana. But it's very controversial subject in many countries over the moral, ethical, and legal issues. People who support for voluntary euthanasia argue that it ends the patient life because he/she is already terminally ill and it relieves suffering, patient has right to choose, it allows people to ‘die with dignity’, kinder than forcing them to continue their lives with suffering, relatives spared the agony of watching their loved ones deteriorate beyond recognition. People who is against the euthanasia state that it is a criminal homicide, morally unacceptable, taking a life for any reason is interfering with God's plan,no one has the right to take the life of another human being, all pain can be relieved so no need to end patient's life, it gives doctors too much power and doctors could quite easily be abused if euthanasia were to become legalized, patients may choose to die through feelings of guilt. They may feel guilty about the burden that they are putting on their families and choose to die for this reason alone. I've been reading about this topic recently and it's still debatable. So do you agree with voluntary euthanasia or not.

@Freeny,Yes,we should be allowed to put an end to our life when it becomes unbearable. However it's a highly sensitive issue.

It is definitely a very sensitive issue but we can have a DNR if that is what we then no life saving measures will be taken.

@Freeny Criminals may take undue advantage of it,and if that happens,it may backfire.

That is exactly how I feel if I am in terrible pain and no hope of recovery then euthanise me so I can go to my make with some type of dignity.

I believe if someone is so ill and in such pain that nothing helps then yes I do believe they should allow euthanasia. In any other circumstances than no.

this is a very good introduction of Euthanasia, its right it is always a controversial subject, I have heard that it is allowed in Australia too, my personal opinion is Euthanasia should not be allowed, if he is in agony its Doctor's job to provide good palliative care and effective analgesia and family shouldn't abandon him just because he is sick

Some people are in agony but no amount of anesthia is of any help and most families do not abandon their sick family member.

I think any reasoning adult should be able to live or die as they please so long as the doing so does not infringe the rights of others.

I agree with you @Namelesss. If not there won't be any meaning of autonomy.
