We really don't need all this STUFF!

Do you ever think about all the STUFF you have? Clothes, books, movies, furniture, video games, electronics, crafts, etc. It's all just stuff right? Well this year I've entered a new chapter of my life and with this new chapter I've become more of a minimalist. I've been doing quite well with eBay and it's been changing my life. I feel like I can finally breathe again now that I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff. It's really quite amazing when you think about all of the stuff you have and think about how much you really use. Do you have a lot of stuff? Do you ever think about getting rid of it through selling it, throwing it away, or donating it?

I didn't have a whole lot of stuff when I moved here after I finished college but I have accumulated quite a bit over the last few years. Have you ever watch George Carlin talking about Stuff?? Look him up on YouTube. He was awesome.

Yes I know exactly what you're talking about! That video is actually motivation to me. I saw it for the first time a couple years ago but I just watched it again recently and it's so true.

@bluerubymoon53 Yeah, he passed when I was just 17 so I never got a chance to see him. It's nice being able to see clips on him on YouTube though, the power of the internet.

That's good, I have donated a lot of my stuff over the years.

Before, I used to hoard stuffs because I had a lot of hobbies. I like basketball and toys so I collect a lot of toys and nba merchandise, and trading cards. As I grow old, my interest changed and realize that I had a lot of stuffs accumulated in this small place in our house. Now I am selling them online, and I am making money and quite happy with this. Need to pay the bills.

I think about it a lot, although I'd prefer to be able to not think about how much junk we have! I was working pretty steadily toward actively eliminating things and donating several boxes a week, but getting hired for a "real" job has kind of made me put that on the back burner. I'm going to be sitting down tonight and going through more of the boxes of stuff that are just hanging out. I'd really like to clear at least two more, so we'll see how that goes.

We don't have excessive amounts of stuff but certainly more than we need and use. We'll move to a different flat/apartment at the beginning of next year. That will be an opportunity of going through everything and fill the bins and donate.

That's what I did when I moved last and I still can't believe just how much stuff I actually have. Sometimes it's just so overwhelming, I'm happy I've been able to sell a lot on eBay though.

I've been doing a lot of sorting recently. I read one of Kon Marie's books and it's changed my whole outlook on the stuff i have and more importantly what i'm buying.

I've been trying to read some ebooks on the subject. I haven't found any books too interesting or providing any new information maybe I'll checkout that author you mentioned.

I am slowly getting rid of a lot of things. One wonders why we buy so much?
