Sneak peak into Off the Grid, my Nano 2015 novel ....

Okay as promised, though I'm more than halfway through Nano with a little over a week to go to the 50 K finish line, here's a sneak peak into the Off the Grid, my 4th romantic suspense/thriller I've written for Nano. Instead of doing snippets like @jessalynn is doing, I'm giving you a sneak peak on what I've planned in the weeks to come. The premise: When Greer's ex-high school sweetheart asks for her help to locate his missing niece, she's in for a wild ride to find her. She goes across country to look for clues, runs into some speed bumps along the road, and come across a lot of complications. Later on, she learns a startling connection to a destructive cult leader who masterminded the kidnapping, and has a connection to her ex's sister's--and her own--past. With a lot of turbulent twists and turns, Fate had brought them together to rekindle the chemistry they once had. And for Greer as part private eye/bounty hunter, she would have to infiltrate the Devil's Playground cult to find her fast and escape, before they're trapped with no way out... Though I'm only at 39 K with four chapters written and the pace would pick up with some dicey twists and turns ahead in real time, I've added malware for the first twist, and would later add a detour to Greer's bus ride to Indy. There would also be a fire, a bomb, a car crash, a train derailment, and the risk for Greer's undercover operation to be exposed and blown wide open, while she goes many radical disguises during this investigation to stay invisible. I haven't figure out the other surprises yet for later in the story. Side note: Greer's also a widow, a former Air Force pilot, a 3-time Olympic Champion and an Iron Woman competitor. I haven't dreamt how it would end, but I figure I'll finish this in mid-January at 135 K words before edits.

yay! I am amazed at this, I honestly don't think I've got that many words left in mine. I think 50-60K and book 1 will be good.

@Jessicalynnt Aww sounds like it. My father wants me to try Children's or YA. But I keep telling him, I can't think or dream that way. Or even write it.

Jessa, it all depends on the genre and the market. I've hit 41 K just now. I have a lot to go and add in the cult plot twist, halfway through the story. Thanks!

Hello fellow NaNo writer. Your plot outline sounds exciting and spine tingling. I am writing my fifth novel for NaNo and have just of 36K so far this year. My handle on NaNo is DWatRSL if you'd like to be writing buddies over there.

Thanks DW. Sure DW, I'll add you tonight. This is my 7th Nano year up to date. I didn't do it last year though. But I've always won at 50-53 K. I hope agents feel the same way too. 36K isn't so bad. You have a little over a week left.

@KristenH I've always finished with over 50K, sometimes just barely. Only one of my NaNo projects has become a published book so far.

Dpk, I will let you know in early 2016 before edits. I will for sure. I think it's the best plot idea ever I've had for Nano, besides my first babies in 2007--2008.

Thanks for the suggest, Jessa. And Artemis, thanks so much. I'll keep you all posted when I'm done writing and done editing. I'm so psyched and pumped with this one. I do have ideas for next year, though.

Well, you are certainly a busy bee. Prolific too. Greer sounds like an all rounded person. LOL So you will start this one after the first of the year?

@celticeagle Not really. I don't think she was a bounty hunter. I think she was an assassin. Greer's her own person.

Thanks Celtic. I'll finish writing after the first of the year, say mid-January. Then I'll take a quick break before I dive in for edits, before I do Nanoedmo in March. She does. She's a mistress of disguises to stay invisible and get the job done.

@KristenH I know the post is a year old. That is the beauty of this site, there are posts that are as timely now as when the post was first made. Still looking forward to reading that novel you wrote.

Sorry Allen. Not at this rate. I have a lot of editing to do since it's over 100K. I hope to go back to edits at another time. By the way, that post is a year old.

@allen0187 Okay. I'll let you know, if and when I get it agented and later published in the future. But I have three novels that have interest from agents/small pubs right now. Maybe you'll be interested in them someday.

@dodo19 Thanks Dominique. I just wish my chapters aren't so long, even with two scenes. I haven't yet written my bad guy scenes, which is coming up next week.

Holy cow! Your brain will get no rest while you write this! It is as if you are taking the adventure with her, isn't it? Maybe that is why writing romance novels is so much fun. You are there with the characters, and oh, my!
