We should admit All Refugees. NO! We should build 50 foot tall walls.

Or perhaps somewhere in between.
Like everything that I see being hotly debated I wonder why there are such 'extreme' views and barely anyone talking sense.
Obviously the Syrian refugees are a hot button topic right now. And if Im being honest, I don't know how I feel.
We (the United States) have a responsibility to the world to help in situations like this. These people are fleeing HORRIBLE situations. situations I can't even imagine. And as a humanitarian I agree they need a safe place to go, to make a life for themselves. To save their children.
But with some of these extremists posing as refugees, and with the bureaucracy that would ensue with trying to keep track of things I can see why people are scared. I get it. We have a responsibility to help the world but don't we also have a responsibility to protect our people?
To me it's obvious that the solution lies somwhere in the middle. Should we open our borders and allow anyone and everyone to just flock in here, paying no mind to their history, not caring if they have valid identification. Should we give them jobs and government assistance. Probably not. But at the same time I dn't think we need to arm every American citizen and build walls around the country.
What I do think, if the politicians from each 'side' could work together instead of spending all their time trying to prove each other wrong, maybe just maybe we could actually help the situation.

It goes with the argument that people who want to commit a crime, are going to do so one way or the other...

@MakingCents That is correct. It's really unfair to turn away a large number of refugees because of a small group of would-be terrorists. I'm confident that the US possesses advanced technology that can filter this small group of people.

I think this is how it should work, they can accept refugees but the ones who can assimilate with the adoptive country's culture and the ones who have the skills the country needed. Many Blue collar jobs are available in the US and Europe and though those countries have unemployment problems, The locals want to avoid blue collar jobs. The US needed hundreds of thousands Butchers, Plumbers, Welders and mechanics. Those jobs are available but locals dont want them.
Immigrants and refugees can fill those needs but they have to be careful on who to allow. They should pick the ones who can give loyalty to their new country instead of their religion or old country.

A good idea, but we were founded on separation of church and state, so to tell them to leave their religion behind goes against the entire essence of the United States.

@MakingCents I am not telling them to leave their religion, I am telling them to love their new country over religion. Look Albania is a Muslim majority country but Christians and Muslims stopped killing each other because the government programmed the people to love Albania first. Albania use to be a very violent country and they managed to stop the bloodshed without removing freedom of religion.

Seems like that's where everyone is coming down. And I completely agree.
