My First Day at My New Job Went Well

I just hung out with the owner and learned about the register and stockroom. I already knew how the shop was laid out and where things are. There was a steady stream of customers, but I knew most of them and they were very nice.
After a few hours, the owner was able to go into her office and do paperwork, while I handled the front. When I feel comfortable, she'll leave me alone to run the store.
I had a pretty good time.

Good for you! It takes about four people to run the birding enthusiasts' store where I work about 20 hours a week.

It just the husband and wife owners and me now. So they can have some time off together. I'm at 30 hours. It wasn't bad at all.

@NeldaHoxie Glad to hear it. We have about 8 or 9 part time (good) employees plus the owner and his wife. She is around quite bit, but he had a stroke in June so is limited in what he can do.

My hours depend upon the owners. If they want the day off, then I'll work. Of course we'll try and accommodate the special events in each other's lives. Hopefully, it will all work out.

We've known each other for years, so there's no surprises. The job is pretty simple, so there shouldn't be any issues

Well I always worked at home, so I've always worked. It's strange talking to people all day.

I stocked shelves and displays in between customers. I sat on a small stool while I did that, so it was a bit of a rest.

@NeldaHoxie A new job can be a little stressful, but once you know the ropes a bit things get easier
