Stupid Accident At The Wrong Time

If you have not seen me around today, it's because tomorrow I have guests. I have spent the morning cleaning the house. I had planned to prepare the base of the cake in the afternoon. I opened the kitchen cabinet to take the baking sheet, when the shelf support broke sending everything on the floor. Luckily enough there were only pots and pans on the shelf. Nothing has been broken, but fixing the shelf and putting everything back took a lot of precious time. Do you also have kitchen accidents when you wait for guests? Do not tell me, I know, the Murphy's law.

It's coincidental, but that happened to me just last week when my shelf support broke too. Fortunately it was only packaged goods that fell, so no harm done. Enjoy your guests tomorrow.

It was the support that broke here too. I have a few spare ones in the house and it's now fixed. Enjoy your day too Janet.

I once went house hunting and opened a kitchen cupboard. A large lump of wood hit me on the head, narrowly missing my eye. I left without checking the rest of the house.

Good decision, it was not a nice welcome into the house. A small pan has hit my head, nothing serious.

Oh, how awful. It appears you inspected the house far enough, though.

Oh dear. Perhaps that was done on purpose, to stop people prying in cupboards...

Yes, it does sound like Murphy's Law at work, sending you a mess when you are trying to prepare for guests. But I am sure that you will still make them a lovely cake. I wish I could taste some of your delectable-looking recipes.

I finally was able to prepare two cakes, a Black Forrest and small puff pastry and apple roses. They are nice to see. Here is a photo.

@Hatley This is also true Patsie, the rule of three, the weird is that it never happens that we get 3 good events, always bad.

I dont normally get guests around at my place. So I cannot tell you anything about Murphy's Law or mine but yes, today I am going to have a really over cooked dinner.... ps: in case you are trying to figure out how overcooked that dinner is - something served in dark gray and almost in shades of black

@yalul070 They have, I was so upset with our color printer last week that I have decided to throw it and buy a new one, anyway the toner recharges cost more than a new one.

I don't get things like that when guests are expected, but rather when I'm running behind for other things. At least that was easily fixed, not like getting in an accident outside the home. Hope you enjoyed yourself. We were expecting guests too on Saturday, the 21st, but not that many showed up as we also got our first snow of the season that day. Many won't drive in the snow even during daylight hours. Got my house cleaned though. I almost hate to get the bookkeeping out for it will surely mess things up quite a bit again, but I need to find my timecard for last week for my employee or he won't get paid this week. I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate that.

@LadyDuck At least the lunch went well. I thought my dishwasher was broke or jammed shut for over a year and then found that the latch just needed a bit of prodding and it opened right up. Had to do dishes by hand until we found that out, at least we didn't have a repair bill. Hope yours gets fixed easily as well.

If that happened to me, my dear @LadyDuck , I would have requested one of my daughters to do it for me. If I lack time & visitors will be coming already, I can't be rushing on more tasks, or else the visitors will see me in my room with oxygen tank's canula on my nose. Ha! Ha! Ha!

It happens to all us in some area or the other. When I was sick and was finding it difficult to bend and do work I dropped a pan full of batter on the floor.. that lead to an hours worth of clean up. Good for me hubby was there to do most of it.
