It is true one often is ambivalent when making decisions as to their future plans. What may appeal to you at one stage in your life may not be so likable at a later date, or the choice may not produce the effect or joy you anticipated.
I am a person who does not fear change so I go into the things I enjoy at the time. If later on down the line I am bored or dissatisfied, I simply take the steps necessary to bring about a change. This may involve moving to a different location, taking a class, getting a new job, even changing my relationship status.
Plan for the future, but it is my opinion that one should not be so stringent, there appears no way out. New challenges are a way to growth and keeps life fulfilling. No need to over stress on the decision. You can always turn it around, just as you make a u-turn when discovering you are going the wrong direction on a highway.
