I am so glad now that a while back I had a remote start installed on my Toyota as it is coming in handy in this cold weather. All you do is set the heater and defroster at night and in the morning from inside the house when you are ready to go someplace you just hit the button on the little gadget on your keyring and it heats the vehicle up in just a few minutes. It was really worth the money I paid to have it installed. I am so glad that I had heard about this option and how well it works.

The gadgets are now a days becoming essential part of our lifestyle and I agree it is priced little higher, however it is worth when it is chilled outside.

I drive my brother's Toyota Corona, a very old model and manual steering. when the climate is cold, I also find it difficult to start up the engine.

I have a newer Toyota Rav4 and I love it and now I love it even more since I don't have to go out and start it when it is cold, just stay in the house and push the button.

Oh yes, in fact today it is only about 12 degrees here and very, very cold. I was in Ohio visitig one winter and it was -25 I had to leave and go back to Arizona as i could not get warm even sitting on top of a heater.

It all depends on where you have it done, I found a mechanic who did it for me for $350 and most of the others wanted a lot more. You just have to check arounds it is worth the price just think all winter long you could go out into a car that is nice and warm.

Car still looks new,
I bought a new car three years ago and did not know about that or I would have had that put in my car.

I was told if you have it put on afterwards it is less costly than having it installed at the factory.

@AbbyGreenhill That is strange because it is not a standard item that comes with a car it is something you have to ask for. Hmm wondering about that.

This is a wise decision if you live in a cold country. Where I live this wouldn't work so well unless you don't drive your car often.

I would think this is a smart purchase in places with awful winter weather. Here, it would be a waste of money.

Now that's a handy little device. That is the only thing about winter I don't like - getting into a cold car.

@just4him It is definitely the best investment I have ever made as you go out to the car and it is warm inside and the windows are defrosted so you can see clearly.

@just4him I would think if you had the wipers set to turn on they probably would come on also if it was cold outside.

@Marcyaz perfect for this time of year. I wonder, do they make a device that also turns the windshield wipers on if it's raining - just a thought. Probably the next invention if somebody hasn't already thought of it.

It is a really good thing to have if you live in snow and ice country.
