The Creepy Girl on the Swing

Towards the back end of the summer, my girlfriend and I drove out to a nearby village for a walk along the clifftop. On our way, we crossed a small bridge that spans a narrow inlet. I happened to glance to my left, and I was startled to see a young girl on a swing that hung from a steel pipe. It gave us quite a start.
We learned that the young girl is part of an art project by a local resident, and that there were other pieces scattered about the vicinity. Our trip turned into a study of these exhibits, which sprouted from grass and peeped around corners. All very interesting, but that gliff I got when I first glanced the girl on the swing will stay with me for some time.
Oh, and if you look towards the far end of the right side wall, you will see a second figure watching over the girl on the swing.
Eerie.

It almost sounds as if the artist was more interested in the reactions of others. Just seeing a girl swinging there of all places, it seems very eerie. It also brings to mind
desolation and loneliness. I guess you could say it makes me feel for the girl's predicament (so to speak). I would hazard a guess of this being what the artist intended all along.

I believe you're right. I would guess that we were not the only observers to be startled by the sight, and this would have been the artist's intention. The loneliness angle is an interesting and very valid one too. Thanks for commenting.
