A tribute to my Poppy

Today is my father's birthday. He was born in 1905 and died in 1984. He would have been 110 years old today. I am trying to imagine what he would have thought of all the changes that have happened in the last 31 years. He grew up before World War I and lived through the Depression, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He buried his first wife and his eldest daughter and son. He outlived both of his brothers and his parents. He was a handsome man with a great smile and had the charm that is so common among the Irish (even though he was only 1/2 Irish). He lives on in his grandson and great grandson one named John and the other Jack. He wasn't a great father but he was mine and I loved him and I miss him still. So Happy Birthday Poppy and I know I will see you again someday where we will all meet. Are you lucky enough to still have your father or like me are you keeping his memory alive?

i like when anyone do respect for parents because they have sacrificed lots of thing for us and they suffer from pain and even not show to us and just smiling, everyone has good father and some see them as role model and be to like as him.i am so lucky that my parents are live.today its my birthday and after wake-up first i take blessing of them.my father still give money to me but i am earning from job so not take and keep them to save for future.i learn from him a lot.some of memory is that kind of that i am crying when remember what they do for me.

No one can ever replace them can they. I think we now realize our own mortality as well.

My Dad has passed also. Like yours he was Irish and a lot of fun, he lives on in his eldest grandson, who just so happens to be our son. In looks and his mannerisms and even his likes and tendancies, he is so much like his Papa. Maybe your Dad and mine are telling stories in a better place today, and laughing it up.

We became quite close in his final illness, I am glad we had that time together.
